Inspired by the bleak light of the moonlit sky, this mix was recorded in one take at my home studio.  It includes some of my favorite tracks to listen to while the rest of the world sleeps.

A B Kuhl And Chill...mix Pt. 1

Inspiration finds you in the most unlikely moments. Part 2, or "Segundo", found me in one of those moments, just as it did with Part 1. In the small hours of the evening, well after a 5+ hour DJ set, I was overcome by a compelling urge to keep going...

And so I did.

This is meant to be a continuation of my last B Kuhl + Chill release, something I hope to make a more regular thing. In this case, I run the gamut of a number of different genres and tempos, always focusing on the vibes more than any fist-pumping or foot-stomping moment.

This is about emotion.

Some delicious single malt scotch may or may not have been involved in the post 3 am process of curating and programming and mixing. Also, speaking of scotch...

My fascination with that specific spirit began in Puerto Rico almost a year ago to the day. This mix is dedicated to the people and places I've met along that journey. Most of what you hear is either directly or indirectly influenced by my time there. Dale play!

The setting: Natt Spil in Madison, WI on 2/17/2017. 

The vibe: A lounge-style atmosphere. Rich mahogany, dimly lit candles, exquisitely crafted cocktails.

The tunes: The final hour of a four hour set of open format, no holds barred, groovy goodness.

Picture the scene…

December 1994, the day after his 9th birthday.  There’s a boombox at his feet, antenna stretched to the sky, blank cassette tapes to his left, radio dial tuned in.  The intro of his favorite song begins playing as he hits the record button on his most cherished birthday gift.

That day, unbeknownst to him, a DJ was born.

B Kühl (Josh Kuhl) hails from just north of Chicago, the birthplace of house music, so it’s no surprise that his heart beats at 128 bpm.  He’s been at this thing, sharing his love of music with people, for 13 years.  In the 90s, the likes of Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, Roni Size, and Kraftwerk graced his headphones.  In recent years, he’s drawn inspiration from artists like the late DJ AM, Girl Talk, 2manydjs, A-Trak, and Armand Van Helden.

He caught his first big break back in 2012, opening for Timeflies to a sold-out crowd at Majestic Theatre in Madison, WI.  Since then, he’s travelled the world, bringing his music to crowds of all shapes and sizes.  He currently holds three residencies at clubs around the country, and has his sights set on 2017 to take this ride worldwide.

While cutting edge he may not be…experienced, focused, and addicted to the power of dance music and the roar of a crowd he most certainly is.  What started with a boombox and blank tapes has now led to CDJs and a booming sound system.
