A lotttta fun for a Wednesday night at in Peckham earlier this month at No Persona's very last open decks in the legendary Four Quarters basement 😈. 

I started my 30 mins set with a dreamy remix by Huxley of my favourite Crazy P song to honour the absolute icon Danielle Moore who devastatingly passed away a few days before the set ♥️♥️♥️.

The rest went from tribal house to stomping piano house to acid to trance to breaks with a signature pop edit or two. It felt real nice to play on a proper soundsystem 😏.

Let me take you on a trip @ No Persona 4/9/24

Twenty-five years after starting this mixtape series, SlowJams Vol 22 is here!  This tradition started back in 1998 while I was living above Walgreens in the Lower Haight, San Francisco with some of the people who made me the man I am today …..The series featured music from the deeper, “late night” end of my record collection that almost never made its’s way onto the regular DJ mixtapes we were all making in the late nineties.  Over the years I have been told that these recordings have soundtracked many of my friends lives. Their romances, their after-hours’ and their Sunday sessions. This latest instalment has some heavyweight tracks on it….hope you enjoy!

This month's Get2kno is a tribute to everyone's favourite decade - the 90s! I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to two amazing  women who started off their DJ careers in the mid 90s - AnnaB and Lady T - all about what it was like back in the day. 

The interview clips are interwoven with a dancey (as always) mix of entirely 90s bangers - a lotta house, a bitta UKG, speed garage and trance. We chat what it was like to be a woman on the scene back in the day, pirate radio, vinyl and advice for female DJs of today. 

I was grinning from ear to ear hearing their stories and I can't wait for y'all to get to know them too. Get locked :).

Deep, groovy + 90s house @ Sensitive Boys Club day party 26/10/24

A lotta lotta fun at No Persona's 2nd birthday bash at south London's finest most sweatiest basement, Four Quarters. I feel like this set was the most "me" of any set I've played so far. Starting off with some pumping house, I went a bit deeper, darker and bassier with a sprinkle of nostalgia and latin flavours. This is a re-record with an extra couple tunes at the end - a few people on the dancefloor said they didn't want the 45-minute set to end, so here ya go!

No Persona @ Four Quarters 9/11/24

This month's Get2kno is an ode to legendary record shop DnR Vinyl - the only garage specialist store still standing, which also happens to be in the small neighbourhood of Croydon where I grew up. Pretty much every DJ in the game has stepped through its doors since it opened back in the early 2000s to have a dig through the thousands of second hand oldskool gems and exclusive new releases collected by owners Dan n Rob since they were teenagers. 

I went down to the shop to chat to Dan about the origins of his music obsession and the importance of keeping small shops like his alive. We go back to his days as a 14 year old getting his mum to buy the latest vinyls from the prestigious Big Apple record store in Croydon 🍎, to his uni days where he spent every penny of his student loan on vinyl 💰, to the present day where small labels such as Elijah's 'Butterz' are a crucial support 🫂.

DnR is underground incarnate - fully DIY, no frills, no viral videos, just decades of unadulterated love and dedication to the music. The garage scene has never gone away despite its revival in recent years and the shop has helped preserve it from where it all began.

Dan doesn’t do interviews often so it was a real privilege to get to hear and share his stories. Anyone who’s listened to the show will able to tell that he’s an incredibly humble guy despite being deeply respected by everyone in the scene and one of the biggest oracles of music knowledge in the business. UKG legends Jeremy , lady passion , perception + Vibesey shared their personal stories: Dan goes above and beyond, helping start labels and pressing new releases as well as putting his all into the shop and website.

The interview clips are interwoven with a mix of entirely UKG - mostly oldskool - by me 🤓, including some tracks recommended by Dan himself 🔥. It’s kinda like podcast meets a mix 🤝.  Tracks by Tuff Jam, Damian C, Mike Millrain, Groove Chronicles, El-B, Eliza Rose, K-Lone and more.

This mix by Berghain / Panorama Bar residents @Barker-Baumecker (aka @Voltek & @ndbaumecker) first aired on August 3 as part of @OstgutTon-official's takeover of @RinseFM and @Rinse-France. For this special simulcast on both stations in Paris and London, Ostgut Ton artists were asked to showcase a different musical side of theirs.
