Josh Geffin has taken a variety of musical avenues in recent years - from the jazzed-up traditional folk songs of 'Rock Of Bawn' to the meditative instrumental country of 'Hum & Glow' and the electro-folk of Geffin Brothers. 'Islands', his upcoming EP on Culture Recordings, marks a return to the heart-on-sleeve stories of love found and lost that imbued his earlier work. His first release on new label Culture Recordings, 'Islands' is full of nature-soaked nostalgia, wondrous fingerstyle guitar and living-room intimacy.

Born in London and raised in rural Dorset Josh cut his teeth at the festivals of the South West, releasing four acclaimed records and playing to audiences around the UK and abroad. His inventive fingerstyle guitar playing melds the pastoral beauty of folk perennials Nick Drake, John Martyn and Bert Jansch with the songwriting sensibilities of American contemporaries The Barr Brothers, Joan Shelley and Bon Iver.

Josh has spent much of his life alternating between countryside and city, a dichotomy that continues to inform his work. From the bucolic charm of his folk fingerpicking to stories of life in the city, this dual affinity shines through on 'Islands', an EP that heralds a striking return to form as well as a new level of artistic confidence.

'Islands' features the musical talents of Victoria Hume, Francesca Ter-Berg (Fran & Flora), Alice Zawadski, Gareth Farmer and Robin Peters, and is produced by Culture Recordings.
