This was a project I had to do for University. We were told to create a surround sound soundscape depicting the listener being strapped to a chair as hordes of zombies came towards them and eventually ate them.

This was a project I had to do for University. We were told to compose an 'avant garde' piece solely through coding in SuperCollider. The concept for my piece is to introduce a variety of different sounds and show how synthesis can replicate and/or enhance that sound.

This was a project I had to do for University. We were told to take a pre-existing track of our choosing can compose a Plunderphonics piece in the style of John Oswald. For this composition I used the main theme from Pirates of the Caribbean (alongside extracts from a remix and a piano cover).

This was a project I had to do for University.

We had to record, mix and master a track from scratch using any techniques we deemed necessary to create a professional sounding recording.

Bring Me to Life feat. Megan Pasrons, Fred Clark and Edward Tainsh

This was my first composition project at University. Our Brief was to create a 5 minute composition for a maximum of 5 instruments using a mode of our choice.

This was my mode: C, D flat, E flat, F, F sharp, G, A flat, B flat, C.

From there we were given complete creative freedom. I decided to compose my piece focusing on other areas of  musicality other than harmony (because most of the time traditional harmony wouldn't work). I focused mainly on structure and timbre.

The piece is written in rounded binary within rounded binary (ABaCDcABa), a structure that was inspired by John Cages micro-macro comic structure from his Sonatas for Prepared Piano (which I was lucky enough to study at A-Level....Lucky me *said in sarcastic tone*). Within this structure I also modulated my mode by moving each of the notes up a major third. This gave a sense of progression when it happened when Section A, ABa, return and stopped it from becoming repetitive.

With regards to timbre I attempted to use different techniques of playing instruments to their best effect, most notably the pizzicato strings (best heard in section B, CDc). The Piano also get to use the full range of its notes by the return of section A, ABa) where it plays a semi quaver appegiated shape the spans most of the top half of the piano. The Drums were also used in this sense, being used to bring the music to a climactic point, inspired by idea of war drums.
