My take of a hit song by super-talented Canadian artist and friend, Jody Raffoul. Raffoul has opened for artists such as Collective Soul, Kid Rock, Nickelback, Joe Cocker, Blues Traveler, Richard Marx, Counting Crows, The Allman Brothers Band, Uncle Kracker, John Entwistle, Chris Isaak, Paul Rodgers and most recently Bon Jovi. This has been a project years in the making - I've always like his original and thought it would sound great as a dance track. "Light of Day". Thanks Jody for the stems and for allowing me to make this track :) It's not my usual sound, it may not even be "on trend" with the music coming out these days but it's something I needed to get out :)

I remember walking up the stairs from the basement lounge to the main room for the first time when I was 19 and I was instantly hooked on Fly... The sound, the music, the vibe, the people... oh and the Rev ;) The music was a style I had never heard before - electro tribal house that got dark and twisted as the night progressed. I would bring these tracks back with me to Windsor/Detroit, listening on repeat and playing them at basement raves and my first club gigs. Sounds they had never heard before. At the time, I never thought I would get the chance to play at this legendary club, let alone become friends with the staff and pretty much become family with Shawn - the main resident DJ and now owner of Fly 2.0. I've had some incredible nights at Fly(and mornings)and the music I heard there became the soundtrack of my 20s ... 

To celebrate Fly's 20th anniversary, I thought I would compile my ALL TIME favourite Fly tracks, mixed and arranged the way I remember experiencing the dancefloor on a typical Saturday night between 2008-2011. For me, these were the sounds that made Fly...FLY ! Dirty, filthy, electro tribal classics that blew me away and kept me coming back for more... Artists like Tom Stephan (Superchumbo), Austin Leeds & Kobbe, Ralph Falcon, Oscar G, Outwork, Luca Ricci, Starkillers, Richie Santana, David Penn, Nick Terranova, Peter Bailey, Hector Fonseca, Peter Rauhofer, Alan T, Basement Jaxx, Peter Heller, Tom Sawyer, Hoxton Whores, Celeda and many more.  Please listen to this set completely - a lot of time, energy and love went into curating and mixing this one ! Congrats Fly for making it to 20 years !

If that's the case, then it's no surprise that Josh Karmin quickly climbed the ropes of success, beginning his career in the Motor City a decade ago. Using edits, mashups and remixes, Karmin delivers a sound that is different from other electronic artists in the biz, resulting in high demand performances all over the country.  Karmin’s DJ career, while rooted in Detroit, originated in Windsor-Canada and expands to the club scene of Toronto and Montreal. Fast forward fifteen + years later, and Josh has performed at some of the premier nightclubs festivals and events in North America, including stops in  Detroit, Miami, Chicago, Costa Rica,Windsor, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, London and Columbus, alongside some of the worlds most respected dance music DJ’s and producers.
