MEANING OF SONG:
My heart weighs heavy and my mind sits unsettled with all the violence and death that has been happening in the world as of lately. Christina Grimmie’s murder and Orlando Pulse tragedies heightened my sensitivity to the state of the world. Then came the Dallas and Minnesota horrors coupled with the heated topics of racial and sexual discrimination. Everywhere you look there’s a new trending topic that you can’t look away from. Yet when a bomb attacks Syria children or an active shooter strikes a Miami children’s hospital or a knife man in a Japanese disability hospital, the news doesn’t seem to pick it up as much as the other stories. The influx of tragedy we observe on social media and news outlets doesn’t allow a single event to soak into our psyche, our emotions or our heart. These scary times...there’s a lot of noise and confusion. But most of all—there’s excruciating pain. Lives are being taken, protests are breaking out, and anger is being thrown in all directions online while families are mourning their losses and the public is living in fear.

So, like many of you, I’m not sure what to say or what to do in this horrible time. I have my opinions too but at this moment in time, it’s not important and it’s not helpful—so I do what I know how to do best—I wrote a song. It was the only way I could grieve and cope with all this madness. I’m hurting and I didn’t lose anyone, but I sure feel like I have and I am worried for the safety of our country. I didn’t personally know any victims from this year’s tragedies but I do know what it’s like to lose a parent too soon; in my way, I empathize with those grieving. This song is for you, for those in tears, in pieces, and in fear. May we all find peace and remember all the good we still have. Take care and be safe guys. Much love.
