A Delicate Thing, A Careful Effigy

Josh Millrod lives in a castle in Brooklyn, New York where much to the chagrin of his neighbors he focuses nearly all of his energies on making noise with a trumpet, a modest amount of electronics and synthesizers.  Josh has performed in 15 countries playing solo, as a member of Grasshopper and Hex Breaker Quartet/Quintet and with a symphony orchestra.   Josh started playing trumpet in 9th grade to join a ska band and after that plan went horribly right he attended Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music where he was crowned a professional musician with slightly less debt that professional musicians who attended schools in New York.

Josh has shared the stage with Excepter, Tim Hecker, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jon Olson of Wolf Eyes, Tiger Hatchery, Emeralds and Telecult Powers.  Josh has collaborated with or currently collaborates with Excepter, Lea Bertucci, Konrad Kamm, G. Lucas Crane, Sandy Gordon, Ed Bear and Mike Haley.  As a member of Grasshopper, Josh has also appeared on albums on a number of album of the year list and made NPR's best of 2010 cassettes list.  He has solo releases on Baked Tapes, Hausu Mountain and Tranquility Tapes under the names Josh Millrod and Dads Against Vietnam.
