TRACK 1: “Garden of Eden”
All of the instrumentation and vocals in this track, apart from the live drums, were done by me. Each track on this EP is meant to represent a different stage of love. This track's intro is meant to reference the closing track to the album, transitioning from the end of the EP back to the beginning, representing the end of a love cycle repeating, similar to the way that perennial flowers go dormant and bloom again in the spring, hence the name "Flora". This song in particular is supposed to represent the early stage of love and a relationship, where you are idolizing your partner. The line "I'm after your garden of Eden" represents wanting to get to what you consider to be an ideal intimate relationship, setting your expectations too high and leading into the next track of the EP, "Four Leaf Clover".
TRACK 2: “Four Leaf Clover”
All of the instrumentation and vocals in this track were done by me. The transition between "Garden of Eden" and this song is the only transition in the EP that is jarring, and this is done on purpose. It is meant to represent a sudden change in mood, going from an idolization to a frustrated "reality". This song is about developing a distaste for someone, and beginning to believe that what you had was not as special as you had once thought. It is written in a minor key, and has a very angry and rash tone, contrasting the upbeat and hopeful feeling of "Garden of Eden". This song serves as a stage of denial in the EP, as it constantly claims that the person you thought you loved is very replaceable, even if that may not be true.
TRACK 3 “Evergreen”
All of the vocals and instrumentation besides the live drums were done by me. The intro to this track references melodic lines from "Four Leaf Clover", and eventually bleeds into this song's progression and melody. "Evergreen" is a song about the realization that you actually lost something of value. Coming out of the anger of "Four Leaf Clover", this song adopts a much more somber and sorrowful feel.  It is written at the same beats per minute as I would slowly walk, to give it a feeling of trudging along hopelessly. In the song, it is repeatedly said "I ain't ever coming home", referring to accepting that what you had is now gone, and you can never get it back. The outro of this song both entirely changes the feel of the song putting you in a much more clear and positive headspace, and changes the key to F major in order to prepare you for the final song of the EP,  titled "Lilac".
TRACK 4: “Lilac”
All of the instrumentation and vocals, besides the live drums, were done by me. It is also the closer to my EP, "Flora". Lilac is sometimes known as the flower of love. In this song, "cover me in lilac" is a metaphor for "love me anyways". This song is about the struggle of deciding whether or not to begin the cycle of love again, and eventually deciding to be loved and start over despite the possible consequence and hardship detailed previously in the EP.
