I like that quote because of how painfully true it is.  This song is a single from my upcoming Grace Alone EP, and  hopefully it will be one of the songs that breaks away from the low expectations that come with 'Christian Music'.

The focus of this song is simple; be musical and be important in content. After all, it is, indeed, music.

Smells Like Summer

This was a sound test for my amateur acoustic EP. Very amateurishly mixed and mastered.

This song is a mix between David Bazan's Blasphemous song, Hard To Be, and an Original song, Grace Alone.

I was going for a more earthy folk sound with this one, but I'm still not fully satisfied with this..

Hard To Be-Grace Alone

I just wanted to show you guys what I've been wrestling with.

First half is the raw audio layered together.

Second half is after the mixing and mastering has been applied to the track.

Trying to find that perfect sound is really hard, but I love learning about this stuff.

It never gets old.

I still rely a lot on presets since I'm a beginner (at sound engineering), but I've been adding a lot of creative tweaks to the mix as well.

I'm Through: Before & After Mix & Master

Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune is the third movement of his Suite Bergamasque, written for solo piano and completed in 1905. The title, meaning “Moonlight,” is inspired by Paul Verlaine’s poem, evoking a serene and reflective atmosphere. The piece epitomizes French Impressionism, focusing on mood and imagery over traditional form.
Structure and Atmosphere

The piece is in ternary form (ABA):

    Opening (A):
    A soft, flowing melody emerges over delicate arpeggios. The music feels weightless, like moonlight shimmering on water. Debussy uses rich harmonies and seventh chords to create a dreamlike quality, with a tender, introspective mood.

    Middle Section (B):
    The dynamics intensify, with fuller textures and soaring melodic lines. This section brings a sense of emotional depth and urgency, contrasting with the calm opening. Arpeggios cascade dramatically, giving the impression of moonlight suddenly brightening or revealing hidden beauty.

    Closing (A):
    The opening material returns, slightly varied, fading into a gentle, whisper-like conclusion. The piece ends as quietly as it began, leaving a sense of stillness and wonder.

    Harmonics: Debussy’s use of whole-tone scales, parallel chords, and non-functional harmony creates a suspended, ethereal soundscape.
    Melody: The lyrical melody floats effortlessly above the accompaniment, expressing both simplicity and emotional depth.
    Texture: Light, transparent textures alternate with moments of lush, resonant fullness, embodying the interplay of light and shadow.

Clair de Lune evokes the quiet magic of a moonlit night, combining serenity with subtle melancholy. Its poetic quality invites listeners to imagine moonlight reflecting on a calm lake, whispering through trees, or illuminating a tranquil landscape. The music feels timeless, blending stillness with fleeting moments of intensity.

This is a very serious song about Kangaroos.
Some pesky birds kept chirping outside my window during the recording, so I apologize for my frustration.

Lyrics:

I awoke one day from a dream of Kangaroos
They would jump all night to the beat my drum produced

My eyes met the light of the sun as I came to

And it was then that I knew this next line would be true
As I lay in my bed I realize I'm better than you.

Kangaroos

Not my usual style of music, and it's not that great, but it's what came out naturally.

The title of this original instrumental track comes from the idea that gave birth to it.

There are lyrics to this song, I just chose not to upload that version.

The song is sort of a sad one.
