Before Russ Givens (-aka- Emperor Proscriptor Magikus) began squawking behind the drum kit for Absu he was causing volcanic eruptions for this absolutely dismal cult from Texas. For my money Magus creates music ten times more evil and horrific than your most "kvlt" super hero black metal bitch could ever dream of.

Debauchery (Magus)

Horrific and gloomy death metal from Sweden, but you can forget about the all-consuming 'Sunlight Studios' sound here. This is much, much heavier and rotten sounding. 

Wrath From the Unknown (Crematory)

Meditation is key here. Nice, evil blackened death from Ohio with a moderately slow pace. Sure to lull you into a trance.

All of the Devil's Temple (Void Meditation Cult)

Low tuned early '90's tractor pull death metal from New Jersey. Bolt Thrower meets Incantation.

Manifested Apparitions Of Unholy (Deteriorot)

Typically evil sounding blasphemous death from New Jersey. Features "The Neckless Troll" Rob Disiena of Elegy Records on guitar. Think Pillard-era Incantation and you'll be right on track.

Archaic Icons (Solemn)

Pre-Usurper (Chicago), The Dead Youth are about 100x's heavier than that band. It's unbelievable to me how overlooked this band is. Ultra-heavy and barbaric early '90's death metal. One of my all-time favorite albums. Fuck the trends.

Evoken (Thergothon)

Godly death metal that sounds like some abominable mix of Mortician and Immolation. One of the best demos ever.

Your Life Is Shit (Malignancy)

Don't let the name fool you, this is supremely evil and hateful death metal coated in blackened ash. Similar to other early '90's east coast death metal such as Incantation, Immolation, Solemn, etc.

Conqueror Of Thorns (Goreaphobia)

Ultra-sludgy death-doom from New Jersey featuring 3/4's of Incantation's 'Onward to Golgotha' line-up. What more needs to be said?

Secrete (Womb)

Featuring Roger from Mortician, this is taken off of PB's career spanning comp, 'Ten Years', this is one of the earlier tracks and one of the few to feature an actual drummer.  Super heavy death metal well worth checking out.

Alterations Of The Mind (Primitive Brutality)

By far the most evil thing released by Morpheus Descends. This 'ep' gives Immolation and Incantation a run for their money in the 'blasphemous death metal' sweepstakes. Features vocals courtesy of Tom (Nokturnel) Stevens.

Valley of Undead War (Morpheus Descends)

Planet shattering funeral death/doom from the haunted forests of New England. Heavier than a mountain taking a shit on you.

Absorbed (Stomach Earth)

One of the band's best songs off of what is probably their most underrated album. 

The Fallen (Incantation)

Part of L.A.'s unholy trinity that includes Sadistic Intent and Infamy, Coffin Texts are the West Coast's answer to Immolation and Incantation. Supremely evil death metal with a healthy dose of Bolt Thrower worship to cement their intentions.

Death metal with blasphemous tendencies (i.e. Incantation) from Cleveland, Ohio. Bassist Duane Morris briefly played with Incantation during the mid '90's. Classic stuff.

Mausoleum (Decrepit)

Oppressively heavy death metal from Sweden. Features members of Interment and Crypt of Kerberos.

Dimension of Darkness (Moondark)

Pre-black metal Absu. Kinda like a less technical version of Suffocation. Pretty brutal stuff.
