Ok, so sorry I haven't uploaded anything in a LOOOONG time. This thing has been kept under wraps for a while but it's now here on Soundcloud!

This might not even end up in the final game; it's currently sitting as temporary level 1 music.

When I saw the screens for Spark I thought it looked great and reminded me a bit of Lomax the Lemming for some reason. I decided to compose something that would fit in that game with a bit of an electric vibe.

The chord progression came pretty quickly, I like its simplicity and the song ended up kind of writing itself.

Le projet qu’on m’a commandé pour les Festes Baroques, consistait à créer une composition qui établisse un dialogue entre musique baroque et production sonore contemporaine.

Dans cette création, j’ai cherché à rejouer certaines structures tonales propres au baroque, tout en les faisant évoluer vers une forme de composition modale. Ce qui m’intéresse profondément dans la musique, c’est la narration, et ce dialogue entre les époques et les langages musicaux, m’a tout de suite attiré. Pour détourner certains accords baroques classiques, j’ai choisi d’utiliser des modes pan-méditerranéens et des micro-intervalles ou micro-tons. À l’inverse, certaines parties conservent des mélodies d’inspiration classique, mais interprétées par des instruments non occidentaux, comme le oud. Je me suis aussi interrogé sur la question de la narration rythmique, car le rythme tel qu’on l’entend aujourd’hui est assez absent de la musique baroque. Cela m’a amené à travailler autour de la répétition, de la densité sonore, et à interroger la façon dont on perçoit le temps dans une pièce. 

Cette pièce a donc été un long mais passionnant périple.

I love insects!!! When i was 12-13 i collected all beetles i could get in Germany and Austria. I was obsessed with Beetles. I had 800-900 different species collected. It was my specialist field. When getting older i decided not to kill them anymore! A Photo would be enough now.
