It’s weird to come to terms with releasing mixes because who really cares? I do. They mark a moment in time of songs I care a lot about and eventually abandon. 

It just so happens this mix is live from a camp out I’m so honored to be a part of. People who I don’t need their respect but I definitely want. They know their shit. They gave me a set time that was important and it made it that much more sacred to me. 

Recording a live mix and one on your own is different, but I’m so pleased with this. I’m really excited for the music fans who are by me just enjoying the ride.

Mikey V is a producer, DJ and vocalist from Los Angeles, California who has been a staple in the West Coast underground house scene since the early 2000's. While throwing LA's HAWT underground parties, Mikey signed his first 3 EP's to Luke Solomon & Derrick Carter's Classic Music Company in 2013. He has compiled a versatile discography of productions and vocal releases on labels such as Classic Music Company, Paradise, Robsoul, DFTD,  Snatch!, Hot Creations, Toolroom, Strictly Rhythm & Dirtybird.
Mikey has also collaborated with industry heavyweights such as Riva Starr, Oliver Dollar, DJ Sneak, Phil Weeks, Blakkat, Wheats, Brett Johnson & Nathan Barato.

"222 Minutes". This is my first set this year. It was recorded live at "Cranes" where I work since I moved from New York to Washington DC a few months ago. This compilation contains Rare Groove, Jazz, Modern Soul, Funk, Disco, Gospel, House, Broken Beat, RnB. 

Sad but I am missing the Winter Jazz Festival in New York this week. The first tune (and the whole set) is inspired by Gilles Peterson. This photo was taken in January last year during the WJF 2023. We made a quick visit to one of the record shops between the shows and GP made a quick gift - he bought me this great record released by Jackie Paris in 1981 featuring amazing Stevie Wonder's "Summer Soft" cover which I've never heard before (Thank you Gilles!) Shout out and thanks to my friend Frederic Beneix for a few discoveries I made recently - University Of Miami Concert Jazz Band, Sonny Stitt and Yusef Lateef records.
