South African born and classically trained, Miss Hazard's energy is electric and translates through the thick of a festival dance floor and the intimacy of a packed club. 

Miss Hazard has created a hypnotic sonic language channeling musical inspirations and personal experiences from around the globe.
Always pushing boundaries in the name of creativity, her soundscape is an infusion of spacey textures and ethnic rhythms that mystically blend into a style of house and techno that resists being classified into any specific genre. Miss Hazard has relocated to Vancouver, BC from Calgary, AB where she is known in the electronic music industry as a DJ, photographer and big supporter of the Canadian underground music community.

One of my favourite times to listen to music is after hours.

When you get back to someone’s place and the vibe is anything goes. Nice and loose. Just music.

I love when I get back down the studio in the early hours and listen to random stuff with my friends while talking shit and drinking some kind of paint stripper.

Normally that’s when the weird stuff I buy on vinyl from around the world gets some air. Just one track after another. No frills just thrills.

Been wanting to do some mixes (not mixes) like this for years. But had to wait until the world started back up again as you can’t do after hours or less there is something to be after right?

Anyway here is it is After With Dicky. All from vinyl 45s (not that I give a fuck how people play good music). 

Late night, early morning dub, blissful Brazilian, fantastic funk, cool cumbia, weird Thai shit, spangled soul, Mexican boogaloo, reggae superhero covers, crazy calypso and who knows what the fuck else.

Hope you dig it. We probably won’t remember it anyway x

Audio Social Mix Series 020 - Unmarried Woman

It's summertime (finally), and we can think of no better way to celebrate than putting out a mix from rising Vancouver selector Unmarried Woman. She has put together a killer mix of sunny disco cuts and toe tapping house for your next backyard BBQ or beach day, guaranteed to put a smile on your face as the weather warms and the days get longer.

UK transplant, Unmarried Woman infuses her love of soul and disco with classic house. She cites the influences of dynamic selectors like DJ Harvey and Motor City Drum Ensemble, who layer compelling samples gracefully amongst other electronic genres, to highlight the quality of each selection. 
With a recognised passion for music and comedy, she has fused the two by producing DJ live-streams punctuated with stand-up comedy segments. She continues to evolve her hosting style through her fortnightly ‘Guest Selections’ radio show, on Vancouver-based ‘B-Side Radio’. Through the show she celebrates local and international DJ talent, in an authentic, light-hearted way.
 Past accolades include performing alongside house legend Prosumer, shared the billing of the long-standing Disco Night at the Fox Cabaret, as well as the opening Public Disco event of the summer. Looking for her performing at Bass Coast festival this summer, opening up the Catina stage on the Saturday afternoon.
