Shanghai Loon

A full-bodied, pulsating dance track that launches you into space.  This version includes clips from the Apollo 11 launch sequence and lunar landing.  Dance buffs and space geeks alike will enjoy this!

Liftoff (Apollo 11 Version)

Written for a friend who's involved in anti-human-trafficking efforts (and who loves the Dark Knight Rises soundtrack....  Who doesn't?), this dance remix samples from "Imagine the Fire" and "Rise."  Bruce Wayne tried to protect the weak and release the captives, but he (like us all) was slave to his own weaknesses and couldn't finish the job.  But there was a slave-freer that wasn't a slave himself, one who took our slavery on himself to set us free.  This track hearkens back to the calling of that ultimate slave-freer and reminds us of the role we have to follow in his footsteps.

Deliverance to the Captives (Dark Knight Rises Remix)

I intended this piece to be an exercise in using Heavyocity's cinematic sound libraries (primarily Evolve and Damage), but I couldn't help adding some other sounds too.  This piece represents the struggle and victory we have in Christ here on earth.  Whether we face tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, or sword,

Conquerors

Like the soundtrack to an epic action movie, this piece evokes images such as the title describes.  This is one of my first ventures into the heavy metal feel that pervades today's action scores and into the hybrid orchestra score that combines elements of rock and classical genres.  Enjoy!

Giant Robot Flees Thunderstorm

The calm of an early winter morning is shattered as a sentry spots the approaching army.  Every man is called to his station to defend the fortress.  Will they survive the winter siege?

My submission to the 8Dio 2015 Stand Out Contest, "Winter Siege," features the 8Dio Bazantar both melodically and percussively.  The lead melody uses the Bazantar Phrases Bowed Sadness patch and the Bazantar Arc 2 Stroke patch (with some pitch shifting effects), and the main percussive element makes use of the Bazantar Taps patch (see http://8dio.com/instrument/bazantar-2/).

The Soundiron Bowed Bucket and the Soundiron Twine Bass were also used to add percussive elements.

8Dio 2015 Stand Out Contest Submission:  "Winter Siege" by Josiah Bryan

Starting out like a morning mist far from home, this piece staggers along then falls into a hopeful but laid-back groove as renewed purpose floods over our protagonist like sunshine.  It's a long journey to the end.  The end of what, exactly?  The world?

Hybrid Mists (aka With The End In Sight)

This is epic trailer music...so turn it up LOUD!  "Unseen Hero" is probably my favorite piece to produce yet.  Turn up the volume and close your eyes.  Imagine a heroic protagonist who willingly risks (and gives) his life to save the world, despite being virtually unknown by the ones he saves...

This piece is full of epic hybrid orchestra, electric bass, electric guitar, pulsing synth, strings, horns, and drums.  It builds up with a glitchy crescendo to a wailing guitar anthem, falls into a rhythmic breakdown, then revs up again to a pounding climax, a floating interlude, and finally, an intense finish with hints of victory.
