Kurly is german born Sydney based DJ who is a rising force within the underground techno scene. From the very beginning of her career her performances have captivated audiences and she quickly established a reputation as sophisticated selector of Psytech as well as driving Techno tunes. Her style is versatile as it is distinctive, seamlessly weaving between dark, brooding tracks and uplifting, peak-time anthems.

„Creating this set has been a challenge as I realised that in the techno music scene the vast majority of producers is male and there is a huge gap of female DJs and producers. However, for me it was very clear from the start that I want to play no less than %100 female produced tracks. 
I went on a beautiful journey trying to find female producers within my preferred genres and go beyond the few world known names. I found great pleasure in finding some of these artist and will be more conscious of playing more FLINTA produced tracks in all sets moving forward.
The set I created evolves in an emotional, vulnerable but nonetheless powerful way showcasing different strengths and challenges of being a woman.

The sound is a little different to my usual style - a smooth journey with longer transitions intended to take your mind to new places.
I hope it inspires more FLINTA to pursue their dreams and block out the noise of discouragement and criticism from others.
Music is all about community and sharing the joy with the people around us, we need to protect this spirit and support each other besides our differences.“

Round 39: KURLY for BKiND Music

Blurring the lines between old school acid, modern techno, and hard techno .. this set meant a lot and I’m stoked and honoured to have been able to put this one together for the Nexus / CTL fam when the request came through.  This set is a love letter to ACID TECHNO and the 303. As someone who started raving and dj’ing in the mid 90’s, these sounds are always close to my heart and I love seeing them rebirthed and appreciated by a new generation.  

If you listen to this set, you’ll hear a wide range of hi fidelity modern production styes interpreting old school acid vibes by some current big names, and also some proper raw basic analogue squish from more underground sources, and even some cheeky remixes.  And you know what .. at the end of the day who cares how underground or commercial an artist or a track or a current genre output is.  Good music is good music. And we’re all here to rave. Fuck divisions, this is ACID!!!!

Woah @initiationfestival 💥 what a ride and a half that was!! There are so many things to say about my whole experience, but for now all that needs to be shared - and speaks volumes in itself - is my Main Stage set…in all its glory and all its flaws! 

Day 2 of the festival was extremely challenging on so many levels - every turn I took there was another kick in the face or something that went wrong. Which continued through getting ready to play, setting up to play and technical issues 15mins into my set. I was moments from bursting into tears and walking off the stage. But, for the sake of the epic tunes I knew I was about to play, I sucked it up and did the thing. Far from my usual polished performance, this set was raw and hugely emotional. The energy from the dancefloor was like a shoulder to cry on - the support and commitment to my journey was magic! As were the incredible performances by @carlotta_bellydancer and @winnyz which flowed so effortlessly, really bringing my story to life ✨

Special thanks to @jamie.infusion for helping hide the technical issues and giving this mix the little extra love it deserves! And @on_the_d_floor who surprised me after my set by letting me know he had recorded it!!
