Moroccan producer Cee ElAssaad & KEENE partnered on a journey to explore and share their vision on two numbers for this EP, which represents only a small piece from the puzzle of the vast diversity of music styles across the African continent.

Africa is famed for its cultural vitality and musical richness. In the countryside, music remains a largely participatory and integral part of everyday cultural life and, in the townships and the modern cities, these deep-rooted traditions have given birth to a wide variety of popular music styles that proliferate across the continent, in the global African diaspora and in centers of ‘World Music’ around the world.

The songs of Africa are renowned for the profound social and political role they played in the struggle against Apartheid rule. African music was also amongst the core powerhouses that fuelled the development of the ‘World Music’ movement in the 1980s and its music continues to hold symbolic currency in the representation of ‘Africa’ in the global imagination today.

'Butundaile' is a traditional chant from "Luba-Shankadi" people in Zaire usually sung in marriages. These interpretations are both powerful, yet deeply harmonious, creating an environment in which the groove moves fluidly, making them a very special addition to the Cacao catalog.

'Ake Yoruba' is a quite intense track that finds its way forward through its thumping drums and bubbling arpeggios that creates an edgy tribal atmosphere. 'Ake' is a Nigerian Yoruba chant, which was sung as a form of motivation for Yorubian workers to help pass the time.

As if it came from another era or maybe another dimension, we are proud to welcome the new collaborative EP from producers KDS and Stabfinger from France and Italy, with the singer Amina Annabi from Tunisia.

Initially conceived as a live show, the sonic collaboration of these three artists navigates between the most contemporary and electric sound of downtempo, but with ancestral roots of North African sang melodies, orchestrated by the incredibly talented Amina Annabi and thought of as a multidisciplinary show that combines aerial circus, lights show and live instruments.

AL Bidaya is an explosion of mystery and colors that starts from a very deep atmosphere towards the most progressive sounds, all with particular and mystical groove of what some call, ¨the sounds of the desert¨.

Along with them, we also present the remixes of 3 outstanding French artists such as Karmâa, Max TenRom and Mula. Each one contributing their talent to make an excellent piece of music as we always like: both listenable at home as well as on the dance floor.

Progressive basslines and intricate melodies got the crowd moving as we entered the peak hours of February's party. The Toronto based  set the stage perfectly for Namito as Montreal's finest dancers braved the deep winter together.

Sol Selectas is pleased to welcome the mysterious Turkish duo Derun, with two original tracks full of emotions and organic textures. The sacred geography of their homeland is rich with history, and it is from these tales and legends, that Derun pulls their inspiration from.

The title track “Yedi Kule” tells us the story of the ancient “Seven Towers” in Istanbul, a fortress which throughout time has been a defense post, a treasury, and also a prison. The downtempo groove takes us through each stage of the Seven Towers existence, and the vocals sing about it's past.

“Kordelio” is the ancient Greek name of the Karsiyaka district of Turkey, and is a sight of many historic battles. This track and its vocals, are in the memory of the lives that were lost in these conflicts.

On remix duties we welcome two new names to Sol Selectas, Iorie from Germany, and PHCK from Sweden. Iorie’s “Decapella” mix strips back the vocals on the original “Yedi Kule” creating a moodier more dubbed out version with exciting sonic surprises at each breakdown. PHCK smooths out the original Kordelio, and add their signature deep house groove to round out the EP.

The artwork by Helia Jamali takes us deep into the unique landscapes of Turkey, where nature has her own secrets and mystery.

@miyagi's "Ghost Train" is the first one to take us away. It is a mysteriously sounding track but very smooth as a nightly train ride is supposed to be. Most outstanding is the half paced hiphop beat during the break.

After very successful tracks on the last two Summer Sol compilations, Sol Selectas is excited to present Polish artist Raidho, and his first solo EP titled “Rain Drops”

Inspired by Australian artist Peter Gundry, Raidho created “Rain Drops” by using some of the nature sounds and Indian Voices of the Peter Gundry original, and then fusing these organic elements with a driving electronic groove. The song transports us to another World entirely while keeping your feet firmly planted on the dance floor.

“Mulinea” is an emotive track, which utilizes afro percussion, dreamy vocals, and uplifting melodies, a song Raidho says will “make us think about important things like love, peace and happiness.”

For Remix duties we welcome Argentina’s Kermesse for the first time on the label, and they deliver an excellent interpretation of “Rain Drops”. Upping the tempo a bit, adding some live instrumentaiton and some very psychedelic crescendos, they transport us even further into the galaxy with this remix.

For “Mulinea” we enlisted our dear old friend Timboletti of Germany, who takes “Mulinea” and crafts 2 stellar remixes. The Sunset remix goes extremely deep and dubbed out, a tribal journey with a beautiful breakdown using the Horns from the original. The Sunrise remix takes us on a techier trip with swirling arpeggios, gated vocals, and staccato percussion.

The artwork by Helia Jamali is a doorway to the World of “Rain Drops”, where infinity dragons are playing with drops of life.
