We're not going to blow smoke northwards on this one, or describe the deep inner adventure the 'artist' endured to discover this sound. Carpe Noctem is a simple sequence of tones and frequencies presented with (relative) harmonic sense against a backdrop of solid bottom end.... And while there might be a slight overuse of his new studio toy in here, we understand he has to justify the purchase to his better half or he'll be out on the street. If you have eyes I would recommend checking the vid, and the following buzzwords may help any budding journos out there; analogue delay, restraint, filters, pensive, phaser, cassette tape saturation, BOC.

ThermalBear - Carpe Noctem (D001)

Every now and then we stumble upon a release at DJ Mag that really captures our imagination — Carlo's 'Azizi EP' is one of those records. Consisting of three silky smooth late-night cuts, that cycle through influences from disco to jazz, we've nabbed the exclusive first listen of the EP's classy closing cut, 'Venus 9'.

Hailing from Germany, Carlo has already released on Neovinyl Recordings, Toy Tonics, and now Organic Downbeat — a vinyl only imprint that kicked off just six months ago with a stellar trip-hop EP from Oxford Nash.

'The Guest' - A segment penned by us (SSD) where on quarterly basis we feature a guest dj/producer to showcase their trait in a hour long or so mixtape. This segment is in partnership with our friends at the Deep Inspiration Show.

Our next guest is Amsterdam based hitmaker Olaf Stuut. He has been in the game for quite a while now and we are privileged to have him on board. 

His rare blend of beat making cannot be missed and he is also a monster behind the decks as well. With hits such as Siren, Evolve Tutor, Aeons, Era Terminal, Maze just to name a few shows that this man is going nowhere.

Take your time to lend this mix an ear it comprises of mainly songs that he produced.
