Papa Smurf’s raw emotions are in abundance with his new hit single “Sundown”. Connecting with his ancestors, Papa Smurf reflects on a time where blacks had very little hope in returning home with their lives if caught after “Sundown”. While the new generation focuses on maintaining the “lifestyle of the rich and the famous”, Papa Smurf highlights the system built on the destruction of Blacks. Gone are the nostalgic memories from “Ghetto Sunday”; In it’s place is the resilience of a young black man to keep striving to not “die nameless”. With the cover being warm rays from the street lights in DC, Papa Smurf spins the narrative on the negative connotations of Black history and giving the people a new perspective.
