Sabre Tooth is the second single release for artist producer Joss Worthington. The song develops his brooding cinematic pop aesthetics one step further.

‘Making Sabre Tooth was a wild journey into my imagination where I explored the deepest darkest depths of my psyche. I was trying to understand and express a manic state that I’d found myself in some years back in the vain hope of reaching some kind of spiritual catharsis. In that crisis I briefly found a sharper sense of reality that was both electrifying and terrifying. Sabre Tooth is a walk across the ledge of chaos and confusion in search of solid ground salvation on the other side.

I really enjoyed making this song from a production point of view because it allowed me to take a trip through a broad range of my musical influences. I was listening to an eclectic mix of Classic Rock, Psychedelia, Cinematic Folk Pop, Electronica, Grunge and Krautrock at the time and theres hints and flavours of all those influences in the track.’

Joss Worthington is an artist and record producer based in the rolling hills of Ripponden, West Yorkshire. 

Working at his custom built sonic workshop (Distant City Studios), Worthington has engineered and produced records for various artists including ‘Spook The Herd’ by Lanterns On The Lake (Bella Union) which made the 2020 Mercury Prize shortlist.

His roots in record production lie in years of work as a DIY artist writing, recording & releasing records under numerous guises including Postcards From Jeff who’s single ‘Suburban Girl’ featured on the Sony Pictures hit TV series ‘Cobra Kai.’

It’s no surprise that Worthington’s music has found its way to the big screen. His songs manage to be as visual for the imagination as they are vibrant for the ears. 
Dream-pop meets cinematic indie, folk blends with electronica and alternative pop expectations are subverted by underground ambient soundtracks and a futuristic Americana. And as one genre bleeds into the next a new genre-less music is created bounded not by style or tradition but only by an imaginative vision
