Second Chances

It was mid-January in the witch’s forest, and after the floods came the sudden cold. It was freezing day and night, and the nymph’s pond was covered with ice. And after the first snowstorm since 3 years, the whole forest was covered with an immaculately white carpet of snow. Everything had gone silent.
But the next day, the sun was finally shining and despite the subzero temperatures, Hekske (the little witch) and Falke (the 10-year old witch apprentice) decided to take a dive in the nymph’s pond. While making as little noise as possible, they broke the ice and waded into the crystal clear water. Despite the cold, the water felt as pleasant and revitalizing as ever.
Meanwhile, Lalita (the Asian nymph) was already preparing a delicate massage oil in her little cauldron using spices from her home country of Sri Lanka.  She had prepared the oil according to an old ayurvedic recipe which had been passed on from nymph to nymph for over 2500 years.
By the time the massage oil was ready and had cooled down to the ideal temperature, the witches had finished their bath and Hekske lied down on her belly on a comfortable soft bed of moss, waiting for what was about to come.
Given the freezing temperatures, Lalita didn’t waste much time and poured the first few drops of the warm ayurvedic oil on the little witch’s legs, after which she gently rubbed the oil into her soft skin, while the sophisticated scent of cinnamon and cardamom spread through the forest.  The massage oil quickly warmed up her feet and legs, until her whole body was glowing while her mind slowly drifted away in a state of deep relaxation. 
Strangely, the air on her skin gradually changed from ice-cold to tropically hot. And the quiet winter forest was suddenly lush and green and bustling with life. The little witch listened to a spellbinding concert of unknown song birds, like the yigüirro and the quetzal. And in the distance she heard the calming sound of the Nauyaca Waterfall. This place felt like a true garden of Eden.
Meanwhile the massage was still going on, deeper and more soothing than ever. While still keeping her eyes closed, Hekske was trying to figure out who was massaging her now. She tuned in to the energy field of the man who was giving her the massage. Never before had she felt so many different layers of energy, each layer deeper and more sophisticated than the previous one. Finally she connected with the purest energy she had ever felt, while her whole body and soul drifted towards complete ecstasy. This massage touched her to the deepest part of her soul …

Deep Visions #10 - by Josy5

Eight World – Lament Over the Cosmic Egg by Ernst Fuchs (1947) one of the earliest significant works by Austrian painter Ernst. Only 17 years old at the time, Fuchs had recently enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he was studying under Professor Albert Paris Gütersloh. The painting reflects a remarkable level of technical skill and philosophical depth for such a young artist, offering a glimpse into the symbolic and spiritual vision that would later define Fuchs' mature style.

Rendered in a mixed technique of tempera and oil glaze on wood, this work exemplifies the early stylistic foundation of what would later become known as the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism a post-war artistic movement cofounded by Fuchs in the 1950s alongside artists such as Arik Brauer, Wolfgang Hutter, Rudolf Hausner, and Anton Lehmden. This group sought to combine the classical painting techniques of the Old Masters with surreal and symbolic imagery that explored dreams, metaphysics, and the unconscious.

The composition of Eight World – Lament Over the Cosmic Egg is visually structured and allegorically rich. It is centered around the image of a cosmic egg, a symbol found in many ancient mythologies representing the origin of the universe, the birth of life, or the fusion of matter and spirit. In this painting, the egg appears as a glowing central form, flanked symmetrically by two elongated, ethereal female figures, whose posture and expressions contribute to an atmosphere of solemnity and mystery. The background is divided into three horizontal zones: a dark, watery lower realm; a middle space filled with abstract, flesh-like or geometric forms; and a luminous upper sky, possibly signifying a spiritual or transcendent plane.

The painting’s meticulous glazing technique, inherited from Flemish and Renaissance traditions, creates a jewel-like surface that enhances the dreamlike quality of the image. Fuchs was known for reviving and mastering these older methods to heighten the spiritual intensity of his subjects. His early fascination with sacred art, biblical themes, and medieval iconography is already evident here, woven into an original visual language that would later be recognized as central to his oeuvre.

Fuchs’ lifelong engagement with spiritual philosophy, esotericism, and sacred geometry would later become central to his vast body of work, including paintings, stained glass, architectural design, and religious sculpture. Eight World – Lament Over the Cosmic Egg is thus not only a powerful standalone piece but also a formative step in a career devoted to the mystical possibilities of art.

Fuchs continued to develop this visionary aesthetic throughout the 20th century, eventually gaining international acclaim. He died in 2015 in Vienna, leaving behind a legacy that fused classical craftsmanship with surreal imagination and spiritual inquiry.

You put on some music to set the scene for rising temperatures under the sheets…

The set you put on suddenly brings you out of rhythm, but getting up to skip the track is no longer an option.

We have been scouting for the perfect Sunday morning sets for quite a while already and while "Eigentlich heissen wir Klaus" & "Mattmosphere" have been steady suppliers of them for us, we also developed the idea of asking befriended artists to record one hour of music, to which they like to stay in bed with a loved one.

It's an intimate ask, but most of them said yes.

For Cuddle Cast #34 we asked @bretfast from the beautiful Taunus region to create a journey for us and he made the perfect trip for sunny summer Sundays in bed.

fka boursin is a DJ and producer out of Bristol, UK. 
Previously known as DJ Boursin, he is recognized for his deep, ambient-infused house music that explores political dimensions of clubs and identity politics.

Welcomed into the Scissor & Thread fold, fka boursin shares two cuts of deep and introspective electronic music. 

The original Listless Intertext is a hazy trip through ambient soundscapes, shuffling rhythms and half-caught conversations, drifting across a 12 minute run time that slowly evolves and shifts with time.  

"Listless Intertext is a track centred around the "failed" employment of cheap vocoder software that attempted to process explicit words and phrases across 11 minutes." says fka boursin. "Instead, the vocoder output made any words indecipherable and I was left with thematic vagueness. The final text of the track is simply a submission to its own limitations with some french thrown in."

When label bosses Frank & Tony step up for their Housebeat Dub, they keep the essential mood but introduce a thick, fat groove that works just as well in conveying the mood. 

"Our remix is a strictly dancefloor approach," says Frank, "an extended psychedelic beat rework perfect for late night, early morning vibes".

Passionated by all sounds since child (always berlin in first ! kraftwerk , nitzer ebb...& also london or paris or US house & rap) 
I became a vinyles dj in 1992 in nature , forests, private parties. Educated by Dj Nerate (UK) from famous Spiral Tribe team, i'm  proud to have been a part of these first influences @ early times of techno movement in france with very small audience (but high quality^^^ones  at the beginning , playing house, hardhouse, techno, hard techno, trance , psytrance... sharing the sound in thailand koh phan gan (92 to 95) & goa beaches (92 to 97) , jungle or breakbeat, during 10 years
After a break of 20 years..I came back on the desks , that time on digital materials from summer 2022 & at 50 years old..(!!) 
I like to improvise with all the avalanche of new stuff that i hunt & receive  each day from some precious friends.
Downtempo or midtempo (even high tempo), house, slowhouse, deephouse, hip house, electronic , deep beats,psytrance or chillhouse & even sometimes with melodic or else .
My singularity is to play without headphones most of time (it guaranty for me the essence of the energy of improvisation..)
My eclectic knowledge & my singular way to mix make my personnality , groovy & Deep most of time.
