Sounds especially curated for your weekend! This week we have an exclusive mix for you from Budapest based duo Gelka. The DJs behind Gelka have been delivering floating musical journeys since their debut ‘Less is More’ released on the Nightmares on Wax label, Wax On, in 2008. Their mashups and re-edits are amongst the top listened mixtapes on Mixcloud. Bass music, ambient, future-downtempo, chilltronica, alt-r&b, deep house and other fresh genres melt together in their work to form one organic, complete piece, reinventing the old school mixing techniques – the result of an analogue kind of producer gets a new midi toy for DJ mixes.  Csaba Kürti, one half of Gelka plays live DJ sets with a unique method using an APC 40, dividing a range of music into samples and creating a whole new sound. Their debut paved the way for the flurry of Wax On remixes and collabs, over 150 compilation releases on labels such as Warp, Ministry of Sound, Sony and Om Records, and a key role on the legendary Café Del Mar label.  After injecting new influences of pop and bass oriented flavours into their songs, creating an elegant but aerial new route to their sound with a nod to classic song structures, their album Stardust Memories was born and released at the end of last year. Listen to this chilled house influenced mixtape to hear some of the inspiration behind the duo’s ever evolving signature sound.

On August 18th 2020, at the behest of a twisted genius driven to distraction by an insidious virus, a fleet of intrepid astronauts assembled on the High Fidelity launch pad to set off on a journey into Space. Guided by the Lead Investigator of Mission Juno, they sought new thrills and stimulation, and to boldly try what no one had used before. 
This was to be no ordinary journey. The astronauts were in armchairs; their spaceships were computerized avatars, powered by Vatomic energy; and the space being traveled to was mostly virtual, composed of 3D graphics, with photos and videos curated from NASA’s rich archives of stunning cosmic imagery.
We orbited Earth and watched her perform a planetary pirouette with the Moon. We journeyed to Jupiter and delved into the secrets of the Solar System, exploring the Jovian red dot and the Ionosphere. We flew through solar winds to hear the howl of electromagnetic plasma fields, like desert storms punctuated by ghostly galactic whale-song echoing through the vastness. 
On we ventured through an intergalactic portal to the Orion Nebula, transmigrating past meteor showers, gigantic gas clouds, star bursts and waves of apocalyptic radiation, slingshotting back to our own Sun to dance with solar flares before a wall of astral projections. 
Then we settled back in a lunar lounge to learn more about these marvels that we are only beginning to comprehend.
Here, fellow travelers, is the soundtrack. Selected and performed live for the occasion, it’s a blend of synapse-tingling Techno, deep progressive House and a little bit of what our late friend Mr Weatherall would have called ‘posh Trance’ LOL. In honor of the illustrious cosmonauts on this trip, I plucked some real gems from the crates, endeavoring to mirror the itinerary with a musical meta-narrative designed for you to close your eyes and blast off into the outer reaches whenever the mood takes you and regardless of the availability of a functioning rocket ship. The titles in the track-list below tell a story of their own.
