Growth (CHLO Remix)

It starts out at 120bpm, and we end at 133 bpm. This mix ranges from house, to break beats, to techno, back to house. When working on this mix, the main question I had in mind was, what do I consider my own sanctuary? And the answer was easy – a rave.

Starting with a mellow, and dare we say, melodramatic track produced by local DJ @djburritoboy, that utilizes a sample from a familiar voice attempting to criminalize raves, this set is an ode to the love that can quite literally be found in the club. Rave culture is love, and some extra love is needed right now

This mix is a hodge podge of tracks that I have had a hard time transitioning throughout, so I figured I would challenge myself by utilizing all of them in one mix AND bop around from many diff tempos and genres. This mix was a one sitting recording, meaning there will be audible mistakes, but hey, that's life

Jovella is a San Diego based DJ, and a small but mighty force to be reckoned with. Sitting with and authentically expressing sensitivity and softness is a source of strength, and this heartfelt mix aims to embody and encourages listeners to embrace that.

Jovella is also the Founder & Creative Visionary of Sisiety, a San Diego based organization curating inclusive experiences that embrace creativity and empower community by showcasing underrepresented artists such as female-identifying, LGBTQIA+ folks, BIPOC, and more.
