As we near our podcast quarter-century, we thought we'd give you something totally exclusive and very special. Our next podcast comes from Musk, who are signed to their own label LGDZ, based in Berlin. This podcast features all their own material, some released and some unreleased, jam-packed into a would be live set. Keep on an eye on these guys, they are sure to be going places. 

Musk are Lennart Döring and Gerald Zollner. They met in Berlin's nightlife and started to work together in 2009. Together they went through the history of dance music. In 2012 those influences emerged into their first release "925" on LGDZ that is distributed via Innervisions. Shortly after that "Dance Dance Dance" was released. The disco anthem was a cooperation with the British singer Helen Salvin from Manchester.

While always working together in the studio, on stage they are separated:
Gerald is a Vinyl-DJ and plays Everything from Disco over Proto-House to modern Releases. Lennart on the other hand plays a Live-Set with Ableton Live, where he works with the material of nearly four years of studio work that he produced with Gerald.

Introducing no.7 is signed the dynamic duo from Hageby - Dirtytwo. By now you should know them if you've followed the Local Talk release schedule. 

The Juno review of their Local Talk debut "Moody" speak for itself : Brilliantly, this has one of the oddest concepts we've ever come across - a deep house cover of ESG's "Moody" with added Neneh Cherry vocal samples - yet it works magnificently. Musically, it's structured around a groove that recalls classic MK-era US garage - all shuffling beats and rolling organ riffage - on to which all manner of subtle samples and acid tweaks are added. It's simple but devilishly effective - think deep, driving and emotion-rich. The Butt Jackin' Remix adds some more late night riffage and boompty-influenced beats, while the Short Edit (not so short at nearly 9 minutes) shaves off all of 90 seconds. Still, stellar stuff all told.

Introducing 007 - Dirtytwo

On 27.2.24 Kerri Chandler released 73 edits, remixes and originals as a free download called "Dad Giveaway" to commemorate his late father's (Joseph E. Chandler) 73rd birthday who was a respected DJ in the '70s and '80s. All of the tracks featured in this mix were part of this Bandcamp release.

This year we welcomed French selector, Jeremy Underground, to the festival as part of the Root Down with Love takeover, courtesy of We Out Here regulars, Miche and Rainer Trüby. As part of the takeover, Jeremy Underground threw down a 2 hour set which took us on a musical journey in the forests.

Born in 1986 in a Parisian suburb, Jeremy is a passionate record collector and music lover whose collection and knowledge of house, disco, soul, and funk surpasses his years of collecting it.

First inspired by listening to Radio Nova and Radio FG in Paris, he spent his formative teenage years in record shops with a sole idea in mind: unearthing hidden house music treasures, leaving no stone unturned.

Jeremy started “My Love Is Underground” in 2010, a vinyl-only label dedicated to his first love: the authentic, New York/New Jersey house sound.
His landmark debut compilation released in 2014 on Favorite Recordings, features Jeremy’s hand picked selection of rare & out of press house jams ranked by Resident Advisor #1 best compilation of the year, winning praise from DJ’s and collectors alike for the depth and raw quality of the selection.

Over the course of 2010’s his honesty and dedication towards music rocketed him to the forefront of international DJing, and in the early 2020’s that’s where he remains, still with the rare feature of being a DJ only and not a Musician/DJ.

Essential ambassador of house and techno, DJ Deep emerged from the Parisian scene before establishing himself internationally. He started alongside Laurent Garnier at the Palace and quickly became a regular at the Rex Club. In 2003, he founded the Deeply Rooted label, known for its releases with artists such as Kerri Chandler, Ben Klock, François X, Ben Sims, and Roman Poncet. Versatile producer, he has also released on labels like Rekids, Kaoz Theory, and Tresor, while exploring experimental sounds under various aliases. His vinyl collection is among the most impressive in the world, and his eclecticism is reflected in his Open Library radio shows on Worldwide FM, where he skillfully blends jazz, soul, dub, funk, and ambient.

JOVONN 

A native of Brooklyn and current resident of Queens (New York), Jovonn has been active in the music scene since the age of 10. Supported by his mother, a keyboard player; and father, a guitar/bass player, who were aspiring R&B singers; he was nurtured with a solid musical foundation. Jovonn began his career as a Hip-Hop DJ at the age of 14 and started spinning records at those infamous New York block parties of the 80s where he was introduced to the growing New York House music scene, hanging out in seminal Brooklyn clubs such as Sapphires, Club Saturn and Club Serene. Year’s later clubs such as The Loft, The Choice, Snobbusters and Zanzibar solidified his full commitment to House music.

Jovonn exploded onto the house scene in 1991 with his second release, “Turn and Runaway” on Warner Bros. Records, which reached number 10 on the Billboard chart and catapulted Jovonn on to the global scene. In addition to being an internationally renowned producer and club DJ, as well as a singer, songwriter and musician, Jovonn, founded his first record label, Goldtone Records, in the early 1990’s via Emotive Records. Since then Jovonn has produced more than 200 records in the House, R&B, Hip-Hop and Neosoul genres, not to mention film scores and soundtracks. But it needs to be said that his true love has always been House music.

Some of Jovonn's house releases include "Old Man Groan", "Jurassic House", "Circle Dance", "He’s More" (feat. Carolyn Harding), "Djoon" (on UK Basic), "Praise" (on WestEnd Records), "Dont Waste Your Time" (feat. Stephanie Cook), "The Spirit" album (on Track Mode), the "Blaque House" album on Code Red as well as famous underground classics such as "Back In the Dark", "Garage Shelter", "I Can't Make Up My Mind", "I Wanna Go To A Club", that all contain Jovonn's distinctive vocal delivery and trademark production with his gritty sounds, hard kicks, jazzy chords and phat basslines.

His latest Dance record label ventures, NextMoov Records and NextMoov Traxx, are dedicated to releasing the hottest deep and raw underground house tracks from Jovonn and his crew of producers and vocalists. Look out for new releases on NextMoov and NextMoov Traxx and not to mention brand new original Jovonn productions and remixes on a whole host of the world’s best house labels.
