Josh Baker is back on his own imprint as he brings 4 cuts for the 4th outing on You&Me Records. 

He kicks things off with Didgeridoo, the peak time, high energy track with its recognisable lead drumming throughout. Golden Zest follows with a mystical, well thought out number that we can imagine taking you deep into the night whether it be on a beach in Romania or a dark club in London. 

On the flip side Magic Flight brings a lighter touch to the EP with bouncy synth lines and rolling drums to accommodate for those long summer nights. Rounding things off we have 'Crowd Teaser' which has a lovely freaky chic groove that takes you on a trip.

After releasing a debut album in 2021, DC-based producer @villagersound aka Alex Young joins @chloerobinsondj’s ever-growing @prettyweirdrecords imprint.

Delivering a high octane EP destined for the dance floor, these are his most club-focused beats to date. Recorded exclusively on hardware using samplers, groove boxes and synths, it displays an effortlessly raw and live analogue aesthetic with a nod to UK garage, bass, techno and the sounds of 90s rave music.

Stripped back 2-step beats skip amongst energetic hi-hats on ‘Chlorophyll’, while blissful synthesiser melodies dance across vocal cuts with moments of pitch-bending mastery and colourful modulation. ‘Club Wonk’ is an essential DJ tool with unconventional structure, taking blistering kicks and tight rhythms that ride across an impulsive, meandering bass demanding full attention. ‘Joint Resolution’ - a collaboration with DJ ADHD - brings the classic sound of rave flawlessly into the present with phasey breaks, bleeps, and an unmistakable Alpha Juno-esque hoover bassline. ‘Rave Bender’ is an outlandish and fortuitous trip into the unknown encompassing minimal beats and twisted sonics. ‘In Town’ displays a deeper side of Villager’s productions, channelling the essence of UKG with bouncing toplines and bittersweet vocals pushed through ghostly reverb.
