A Joy & Madness dance party lives up to its name by breaking down barriers between the dancers, listeners, and the band, while creating grooves which inspire joy in the soul and madness in the body. An eight piece soul and funk explosion out of Sacramento’s growing funk and jam scene, Joy & Madness brings its namesake to every performance and leaves everybody sweaty, inspired, and full of joy.

In December of 2012, when five members of Sacramento soul band, The Nibblers, founded Joy & Madness with former Nibblers lead vocalist, Hans Eberbach, those two words were the best words to describe the music they loved making together. The band was soon joined by long-time Sacramento funkateer, Miss Nyxi, and the prolific funk guitarist, Bobby G, who had a chance meeting with Miss Nyxi while sitting in with Tower of Power’s Roger Smith. Bobby G, who had played with and produced the likes of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Sheila E, Lionel Richie among others, added his raw talent and musical ingenuity to the band, bringing the music to new levels.

Joy & Madness has been rocking stages all over California since inception, sharing the stage with the likes of Collective Soul, The Monophonics, the Motet, and the Pimps of Joytime. Hans Eberbach, who has been compared to the legendary Peter Wolf of the J Geils Band of the 70′s & 80′s brings so much energy to the stage, he has broken right through the floorboards. Meanwhile the three piece horn section delivers funky lines over grooves reminiscent of Tower of Power. With their self titled original EP, the band is bringing its brand of funk to festivals, parties, and clubs in all directions to the delight of party people everywhere.
