In A Dream

"Love Me So" is a song I wrote for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary. Having grown up in China, then Canada, and now living in the US, I've come to witness the many chapters of my parents' enduring love.

For this song, I wanted to encompass my various inspirations, including Jay Chou, 2000s pop, and others, into a track that represents my parents and how I see their love for each other. This song is a love story about a couple who, through meeting in college, starting a family with modest beginnings, immigrating to a foreign country, and more, rose up against the odds, and stuck together through thick and thin.

"Cyberpunk Noise" was created with the help of AI Grimes, Chat GPT, and my polarizing musical tastes. 

With a background in jazz, tech, and a passion for anime, I found Grimes's AI voice opportunity to be too tough to pass by, and decided to write my take on what "Grimes AI" would want to sing about in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world, where humans and machines no longer differ in any way, and the world simply runs on numbers, not emotions. 

In this desolate world, would humanity rise from the zeros and ones that constitute this "cyberpunk noise"?

This song is a cry out for hope that the partner realizes that all the good parts of their relationship were just a lie, and that it was all in their head, leading them to hurt you instead of you hurting them first. The upbeat yet melancholic nature of this song encompasses the bittersweet feeling of wishing your partner hated you so that things could be easy to break off...

I wrote and produced "Make Believe" over the course of a year in my bedrooms at school and at home. This song will be a part of my first EP that explores the feeling of loss of someone or something special. While I wrote this piece, I wanted to represent the climactic realization of when an ideal you had believed in turns out to be false. Instead of feeling angry, many would agree that initially, there's an oddly jarring sense of numbness to loss.
