When I was 10, I fought with my sister. My dad got so mad. He carried me 8 storeys up. Cars below, racing and screeching. Death felt so near.

Since then, there were strangers in my head. Day in and day out, they would say, “why will they only punish you and not the rest? See, no one loves you. No one cares about you. No one trusts you.”

When I was 14, it was the first of many times I attempted to die. Even now, I still want to. The only thing stopping me, is because I am afraid to try.

I scaled Everest, wanting to please them. Every attempt at ascent. Just for their smiles, I threw away my righteousness, my friends, myself – anything just for them.

Only God knows how long and hard I fought to be their pride! How hard I took every Mount failure in my stride! Yet, every attempt was exchanged for pain, with them forcing me to dance in the rain of their disdains.

Don’t they say, there may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning? But why? Why all day, all I experience is nothing but pain? I am tired of holding on to this hope, but I still...

I still try to believe, no matter what face daddy and mummy shows, a frown is still a downward smile. Hey, it’s still a smile right? At least, that’s what I tell myself for now. 

Maybe, just maybe, it’s my fault for being born stupid. Not getting into uni. Loving music and wanting to pursue it. Maybe, I should just give it all up. Stay home and live their lie.

I am not sure what I should do anymore. What I should say anymore. At this point, is it still right to hold on to the hopes of my inner child? Or is it just futile?

Now, I am legal, living in a stranger’s home I can’t even call my own, alone on this lonely road, hoping I get to grow old. And I want to grow old.

I’m hoping I won’t quit this life. Hoping, that I will have a stronger reason to survive.
