“Still the Same Water” is a reflective yet kinetic meditation on change without loss. Moving through snow, rain, fog, and flow, the song explores how identity persists even as form transforms. Intimate baritone verses dissolve into a cosmic, funk-driven chorus where indie folk meets space disco. With duet vocals, pulsing arpeggiators, and vast delays that feel like stars drifting past, the track balances presence and motion,  grounded, expansive, and quietly affirming. A song about adaptability, continuity, and staying true while everything moves.

This song is for Edmond, who was one of my first friends in the Bay. He is still missing after the devastating fire at an Oakland art collective on 12/2. He showed me the Sibylle Baier record, Colour Green, right when we first met. The dude had impeccable taste. We all have different ways of processing, and this is mine. I love you dude.

Ariel Pink sets a serene but complicated scene for the next chapter in his curious career with “Another Weekend,” the first solo material heard since the prog-pop opus pom pom. Contrary to the lyrics of “Another Weekend” (and fortunately for both fanatics and the newly initiated), Pink is neither too shy or humble to have brought his singular style of pop music beyond the bedroom for the befuddled masses over the past two decades, but returned to the formative, familiar setting to craft what will surely live as another shimmering moment in an unrivaled canon.  Encapsulating the lingering euphoria of a regrettable weekend over the edge, “Another Weekend” speaks in morose volumes while whispering sweetly, the dichotomy of Pink’s pathos once again on display.
