Mun Sing’s forthcoming ‘Frolic’ EP adopts the drama and intricacy of his productions to create a surreal, demented fairytale. In this world, fun and indulgence come at a price; a shadow of consequence is embodied in the form of a sinister blue faced scarecrow. He is a boogeyman of sorts, akin to the beasts scaring children into good-behaviour in bed time stories, but now finding his form in adulthood. The Scarecrow reminds us that everything comes at a price, and punishes those that have too much fun. He is the embodied voice of guilt after you choose one more drink, one more episode. He lays dormant, silently watching until it’s time to strike. Can we ever really escape this lurking figure? In the times we have succeeded, how long does it last?



‘Frolic’ follows a narrative that begins with indulgence and moves through to consequence; starting with euphoric melodies and big room drops ('Frolic', 'Didn’t Need U Anyway') and ending in moments of unravelling reflection ('Scrolling', 'The Hypocrite'). The Scarecrow reveals himself for the first time during the breakdown of the EP’s centrepiece ‘Somersault’; a theatrical club epic in which the scarecrow cackles the lines “You plead a pregnant passage yet frolic and frot without consequence!?” summarising the spirit of the EP succinctly. 



The concept of indulgence has fuelled the composition of ‘Frolic’ as a whole, where Mun Sing would lean into singalong melodies and satisfying drops using a more inclusive musical language in favour of the grief-inspired awkwardness of last years debut album ‘Inflatable Gravestone’ (Planet Mu). ‘Frolic’ is inspired by big stadium pop concerts for its large-scale storytelling and pantomime-esque audience participation. After years of navigating loss and spirituality, Mun Sing found the natural next step to be writing music which explores the dialogue of joy and escapism.

On Wednesday June 21, 2023 LA-via-Rio composer Fabiano do Nascimento had organized - with Leaving Records and a succinctly assembled ensemble of contemporary A-list fusion players in the local scene - a one-night-only seated concert at a historic venue in Northeast Los Angeles. Do Nascimento and his band set out to perform a curated selection of original music and other favorites from cherished composers.

Behold Solstice Concert - the raw recording of what went down that evening - straight from the board, solstice vibes glistening, full band in both total synchronization and full freak-out mode, audience stoked. Although unintended to be a full-length album release subsequent to the performance, the tape was indeed rolling however unknown to the band on stage and those in attendance.

Fabiano Do Nascimento plays 7-string guitar, soprano guitar, and electronics. Sam Gendel plays soprano saxophone and MIDI saxophone. Gabe Noel plays the electric bass. Tamir Barzilay plays drums, percussion, and electronic drums.

In reaction to the “Chill” Beats trend, “Quiet Elevation” title implies an inner and active experience of music listening.
“Quiet Elevation” reflects the artist’s interest for clothing, as a wordplay with Fashion’s recent styles (quiet luxury / casual elevation), characterized by understated elegance, refined simplicity, and high-quality materials. A list of qualities that could easily be applied to Lex’s music.
With several meanings, the title also refers to Lex’s discreet journey into music since 2011, always willing to elevate sampling music with a unique deep and meditative touch. The apparently quiet and mellow vibes are counterbalanced by Lex’ heavy drum patterns and constant search of new tempos.
Lex aka Alex Besikian is developping his visual art activities in parallel of his discography for nearly 15 years. Being part of several art shows and book fairs over the past 10 years and notably working for the Japanese brand Sillage. This album is his first one which combines his own drawings and music since 2015 !

Nullaconta (“nothing matters” in Italian) is the brainchild of Italian artist Matteo Zanin. It’s a project born from deeply personal struggles and an unrelenting drive to transform pain into sound. Nullaconta's music blurs boundaries, mixing digital hardcore, electronic, and Harsh Pop to deliver raw, unfiltered emotions.

From 2019 to 2021, Matteo Zanin released several DIY EPs under various pseudonyms as part of an ongoing experimentation phase. Drawing from his hardcore punk background, he began incorporating screams into his music, and in 2022, he released the first demo under the name Nullaconta. This project quickly caught the attention of other artists, one of whom collaborated with Matteo to form the band Dell’Anima Nella Serpe, with whom they released an EP and a split album. The project had a two-year lifespan during which they played numerous live shows, including a self-organized European tour alongside the French experimental noise-screamo band Nuit Bleue.

Currently, Nullaconta is involved in other projects, including the raw acid house/hardcore outfit Culto Del Ratto (a collaboration with Leather Parisi) and the more experimental Ace Slut Recovery, which combines 80’s industrial, post-punk, and SOPHIE-like experimentations, all infused with Alex’s voice and poetry (known as Trielina for his punk rock/post-fetish vegan-leather fashion brand).

Tutto Nero (literally “All Black”), is an 8-track album that fully embodies Nullaconta’s emotional discomfort and personal struggles. It takes pop-like melodies and crushes them under layers of distortion and intense hardcore screaming, creating a unique and aggressive sonic landscape. The album explores the artist's most intimate challenges—depression, anxiety, and frustration with years of failed therapy and treatments. Through this project, Nullaconta has crafted his own genre: Harsh Pop, blending accessible melodies with overwhelming, cathartic noise.

HATE OR GLORY

Debuting on Eastern Nurseries with "On a Grain of Rice", Berlin-based, American sound artist Mitchell Keaney traces a compelling line through the metaphysical nature of Arizona's deserts. Derived from a collection of recordings made while wandering the quiet streets of downtown Sedona after hours, Keaney captures the stillness and quiet intensity of the area and transforms it through digital collage and electroacoustic composition.

Forming part of his live performances throughout 2023, the pieces on "On a Grain of Rice" began to emulate their namesake buttes, with their rising tensions, crescendos and descents capturing the essence of the geological landmarks Keaney had hiked around earlier in the year. Connecting these buttes, Keaney built a trio of briefer “trails”, contextualising the mountainous compositions of the buttes with intermissions filled with distant unintelligible conversations, live music bleeding from a neighbourhood bar and gravel crunching underfoot.

Blending harsher textures with a delicate, almost pastoral sensibility, Keaney’s ear for detail has culminated in a body of work that offers an ode to all of the desert dwellers; those who have resided there in the past and present, and especially those who have gone through one in the psychological, or spiritual, sense.
