It's an honour for us to have worked on the first Zero Tolerance Sessions 001.  

Our concept behind the mix was simple - we wanted to pay respects to those who built the foundations of the uncompromising deep and dark ZT sound before us, and who put Melbourne progressive house on the world map. We also wanted to showcase a group of current artists that we feel represents the present and future ZT sound.

Included in this mix are three original records, and four remixes that we have completed that will be coming out on Zero Tolerance later this year, as well as lots of unreleased tracks + re-edits.  If you've followed Zero Tolerance over the years you're in for a rollercoaster ride.

Born in Newcastle in the North of England, a place steeped in dance music heritage, JOBE was initiated into the club scene at an early age.Despite ‘getting involved’ most weekends, and surrounding himself with other music heads, it wasn’t until his close friend was given turntables for Christmas that he realised he wanted to embark on a career in music.

Many years later, with countless hours of vinyl hunting under his belt, he was DJing in the local bars and clubs of Leicester where he attended university. Despite enjoying his years in Leicester, recognising it as the place he truly evolved musically, he longed for more and decided to take the right steps to progress further in the scene.

He wanted to pursue the full time career, however he realised that the scene had evolved over recent years, and in order to play at the more prestigious venues it was vital to have a strong output as a producer, as well as a DJ.However at this point, he had never even considered music production, but recognised it as the most pivotal step to becoming a successful DJ. So he made the bold decision, which seemed counterintuitive at the time, to step back from the decks and spend the next few years learning music production.

After 3 years of self tuition, the biggest change came when he took an Ableton course online. Something seemed to click. He began to get recognition for his music, something he had longed for for many years.Having spent the last few years making music, record labels began to show interest, and the next few months saw successful releases on the likes of Electronque Digital, SinQ Records and Sleazy Deep. He started working with the Underground Agency, alongside Finnebassen, Demarzo, Raffa FL, Dale Howard and Him_Self_Her. 

It was through the Underground Agency that he was finally given the opportunity to DJ globally.Having reached #2 in the NuDisco charts with ‘The Jam’, and with successful releases on Underground Audio, Runnin Wild, Akbal Music and Connaisseur Recordings, 2013 is set to be a pivotal year where he aims to firmly establish himself in the underground house music scene. Despite producing mainly within the realms of house music, when DJ’ing he is totally unconcerned with the constraints of genre and entirely fixated on uncovering music that is both timeless and forward-thinking.

Tim Penner is an artist dedicated to the intricacies of electronic music production and DJing as a means of storytelling through sound. He weaves dark textures with driving percussion, and sweeping soundscapes to create a unique expression, fuelled by his love and passion for music.    
       
A year in the making, his debut album, 'Radio Silence' just dropped from JOOF Recordings, where it sat at #1 on Beatport across all genres. It was also selected for MixMag Magazine’s album of the month accolade. 

Tim has also released tracks under many prominent labels, including JOOF, Cycles,  Sudbeat, Black Hole, Proton Music, and his own Slideways Music. His iconic live performances have seen him behind the decks at a plethora of clubs, events and festivals across both North and South America, Australia, and continental Europe, where he connects with his loyal and ever growing fan base. 

Tim spreads positivity through his love of music. He strives to create an environment where vulnerability is possible. It is this streak of heartfelt authenticity that he shares through his podcasts and his own music, that builds and strengthens the underground music family both internationally, and within his hometown of Toronto. He often says, "It's as if the beat of the music is calling the tribe home."

Based in the beautiful city of Zürich / Switzerland and with strong roots in Italy Vanessa Spolidoro, better known to friends and followers of electronic club music under her artistic nom de guerre Vanita, has come a long way since she appeared on the scene back in 2009.

Inspired by an ever growing love for House and Techno music throughout her teenage years and the vast variety of unheard artificial sounds created with the help of synthesizers, both analogue and digital, Vanita took to DJ'ing and played her first ever club set at the tender age of 19 before she started to become involved in music production in 2010, first working with several friends before embarking on a solo tip to sharpen and refine her studio skills over the years to come.

Gaining notoriety in Zürich and beyond Vanita slowly, yet constantly built her reputation as an aspiring DJ on the rise, playing more and more club nights and finally secured a resident spot at the infamous Hive Club in her hometown in 2014, a first breakthrough point in her career as this residency meant a regular presence in one of the hotspots of Switzerland's club scene.

Parallel, endless hours spent in the studio turned out to be fruitful as well, leading to releases on several smaller labels before imprints like Draft Label and Einmusika offspring EIN2 picked up on Vanita's tunes for singles in 2015 and 2017 respectively before her „Awareness EP“ was signed to Berlin's Katermukke-imprint in 2018, another step that took Vanita to a next level.

With her tracks gaining recognition on an international level and a steady public exposure through the Hive Club residency where she continously plays alongside globally renowned artists it's no wonder that Vanita soon entered the league of globetrotting DJ's herself. To this date she played in neabry countries like Germany and the Netherlands but also took off on a long distance to elevate crowds in Thailand, South Africa, Israel and the United States with energetic sets and a captivating stage presence.

Whilst keeping with an ever busy schedule and growing air mileage in 2019 Vanita has been busy in the studio and recently released her „Rain EP“ on Hive Audio, an overdue fortification of her long standing relationship with Switzerland's busiest club meets label business.

With more releases lined up for the near future and more international bookings to come Vanita is defo on one of the names to watch out for as her career hasn't even come close to a possible peak yet.

IMMAGINARIA 005 | No Rush

John-Paul was raised in West Yorkshire in the UK and has been obsessed with dance music ever since hearing Sasha at Back to Basics in the early nineties. Labels such as Strictly Rythmn, Limbo and Guerilla shaped his teenage years, as did weekly trips to Renaissance, Up yer Ronson and Cream to pay homage to his heroes - Sasha & John Digweed. John-Paul began DJing in pubs in Yorkshire when he was just 16, but it wasn't until he moved to London that he found the scene he was looking for.

Running club nights soon followed, alongside long-time collaborator Robin Arnold – including the legendary 'Biotech' parties on the south coast. Everything clicked into place with his Farringdon based night 'Futurism', located around the corner from Fabric. The essence of the night was to push DJ's that were thought to represent the future of progressive house, and John-Paul DJed alongside exceptional talents such as Steve Gerrard, Nigel Marcussen and Matt Simpson. In 2005 John-Paul moved to the USA, and quickly found like-minded DJs such as Jeffrey Collins and Quantum, and immediately gained a monthly residency in The Pearl Bar in Columbus, Ohio.

John-Paul has since returned to the UK and secured a residency on Saturo Sounds Radio. He runs a monthly show called 'Conversations', which has been running for over 7 years. The idea behind the show is to ask one of his favourite DJs to do a guest mix, which he uses as inspiration for his set. It's following has gone from strength to strength, with fantastic mixes from the likes of Ian Dillon, Kiz Pattison, Samuel Lamont, Nick Craddock and many more up & coming DJ's. He’s also provided guest mixes for Subcode Radio, Progressive House Classics, MixPub, Proton and many more. 

Recently John-Paul and Robin Arnold have brought the Futurism brand back to life, with their own label and productions. Their first ‘Collective Futurism EP’ is being released on Saturo Sounds label in 2023. Both tracks and remixes 'Vladivostok' and 'Third fiddle' have been getting fantastic feedback and support from a lot of great DJs.

Always passionate about pushing the deep and dark, intelligent sounds represented in his mixes, John-Paul continues to move with the scene, but never deviates from the progressive sound that first moved him nearly 30 years ago.
