Boston native, James P. Hudson a.k.a. “JP McLean”, found his inclination for rhyming whilst living in Maryland. The county that he lives in is extremely diverse and allowed for him to discover his artistic ability in high school. Living in a hub of Hip Hop, he felt the desire to flow rather than strum guitar chords. Most consider him to be a jester, but he is something to be taken seriously. Taking the industry by storm with his multiple personalities and lyrical cadence is his only motive. The name JP McLean is a combination of James’ first two initials and the mob boss that ruled Boston before Whitey Bulger. James “Buddy” McLean was the leader of the Winter Hill Gang before Bulger rose to power. James “JP” Hudson lived a few blocks from Winter Hill until 1993 when his family moved to Maryland.

JP McLean is more than just a rapper, he is an artist in many ways. His rhyme scheme is rife with poetic devices and his vocabulary is more than sufficient. Sometimes his brilliance is lost on his audience but he, himself was lost for a long time. JP McLean doesn’t believe in dumbing down his lyrics or coddling his audience. It seems as if mediocre has become the status quo and like a mob boss, he wishes to overthrow that laughable technique. 

JP McLean’s style is smooth, compelling and exclusive. No one can replicate the eloquence of his music even when he is at his most rudimentary level. He talks about reality and fantasy in the same breath which makes the listening experience mirror that of a dream. JP McLean is an entity to behold due to his only motive being that of success. Enjoy listening and do not be afraid to reach out! Life is fleeting, we must take advantage of every moment we have here on Earth.
