hey guys!  i wanted to get a new mixtape up for ya'll super bad.  

ive not even listened through but it took so much time to even get something together thats finished enough to share it.  

just to make this happen heres what the rest of my life looking like over here:   i dont got shit to eat, nothing in the fridge, whatever is left takes too long to prepare so deffo no time for that biz.  my house is piled with dirty dishes, even if i wanted to cook or eat like a civilized person every item in the kitchen for doing any of that is dirty.  dont even try.  but no worries about the ants, i trapped on those fools.  about showering.  probably have not done enough of that.  i lose track.

same old shit. just like how it used to be. i lost music for over a year and it was proper dark.  i missed it so much.  the music and the absolute madness that comes with it.

Fresh from supporting Claude VonStroke on the massive 25 date North American Urban Animal Tour, J.Phlip, has finally stolen a moment to complete her latest and much anticipated release.  Her last appearance on dirtybird called "Coefficient," found the girl from Illinois flexing her European techno muscles and adding the likes of Surgeon & Dave Clarke to her rapidly swelling fanbase. Her incredible DJ skills on the road have been catching everyone's attention and she is currently prepping to go back on the road with VonStroke for the Europe leg of his tour.

Says VonSroke - One of my best friends from Detroit went out to catch Jessica (J. Phlip) at a warehouse afterparty this year and he summed it up best.  "Man... Jessica plays darker than you, more gritty and real and I'm into it."  This pretty much describes Jessica's much needed niche in the original dirtybird crew.   

This release shows off that gritty side of J.Phlip. "Say My Name" is a bold techno influenced acid dipped hybrid track that works up to its dark climax and then drops it like a bag of hammers. 
The remix on the flip (done in tandem with San Francisco's young Aidan Chambers) is an even more cinematic acid trip and a welcome addition to the original.

well here it is - the live recorded set from the best day thusfar of my ridiculous little life - closing the @beatport stage on monday night this year at movement festival.

the original recording i was handed was extremely muddy and very poor quality.  i'm not sure if some raver accidentally dropped the recorder in the river or what?!?! lol... at first listen i thought the mix was totally unsalvageable. but there was so much persistent response from you guys asking about the recording that i had to try and make it happen.  (you guys are the best btw)

i spent countless hours EQing, limiting, EQing, and working all sorts of magic, and MORE EQing to get it sounding the way it does now.  i didn't mess with the flow of the set or anything shady like that - it is exactly how it came out that night.  

its not a flawless mix.  so what.  its live.  im only half robot, half human. it had been a VERY long weekend with a minimal amount of disco naps and only a few hours notice that i was going to fill in for mister boys noize..... excuses excuses :)  whatever. i'm happy.

THANK YOU guys SOOOOO much for all the love. i still feel like the luckiest person alive to have had the opportunity to play this set.  Thanks to my agents and manager and @chuck_flask and @paxahau and my @dirtybirdrecords family and all my friends and techno family from all over the place who were there in the crowd (i saw all your faces) and the people of detroit who have been so fucking nice and supportive....and my friends who were there in spirit.  and all the producers who actually wrote all these tracks. yes especially you. for creating frequencies meant to surround your body, be heard AND felt, and most of all rumble you to the core..... and thanks and praise to the techno gods for making this shit happen.  

so hey ok i got a little bit (super duper) emo on ya.  deal with it. 

i hope the set is how you remember it from that night.  and if its not... well fuck you... i cannot be held responsible for any chemically altered mind-states ;)  i'm just here to promote the music... jesus loves acid.  x -jess

Shocked & Thankful that Foreign Family Collective asked me to remix this absolutely massive new tune by Big Wild.  I felt a desire to explore and experiment and attempt to produce something different than I ever have before... something that wasn't just an easy club track formula.  I'm really happy that they let me embrace my creative freedom and get a tad weirder than what was probably expected.  I hope you all enjoy this oddly, but refreshingly, versatile record as a WHOLE - from the original version to the various remixes by myself, Point Point, and Manila Killa!!!!!!

i did some soul searching and digging to back in the day when i was a lil baby phlip....... back when i was still lugging huge crates and record bags full of vinyl around..... you remember the good ol' days!!??????? when you were a total fiend for the wax????  "gotta get my fix ahhhhhhhh!@#$%^&amp;" this was recorded back when i was still in college in champaign, making weekly trips to chicago (gramaphone and hotjams!) yessssss!!! and i remember a few of these coming from tweekin in SF as well :)
this is the last completely vinyl mix i recorded before the digital era....... its has a very special place in my heart &lt;3

When we approached Walker & Royce to make an album in 2016, we knew the guys were pioneering a new sound and thought they would make a timeless album traversing genres and moods.   Needless to say, “Self Help” blew away our expectations, hitting #1 on multiple charts and leading them on a sold-out tour that’s still going a year later. 

It’s impossible to change perfection, but the album was still ripe for some new interpretations from some close Dirtybird family and friends.  John Tejada re-appears after his first appearance on DB003 in 2005 with his remix and dub of “My Own Thang”, taking a stripped back approach with punchy drums and tweaked synths. Justin Martin & Ardalan team up for their take on “Can You Pass That”, with new drums and dramatic risers. Justin Jay surprises everyone with his deeper SoCal version of “Take Me To Your Leader”. J.Phlip is back with her acid lover’s remix of “Rub A Dub” feat. Green Velvet. Walker & Royce deliver their own rework of “Role Models” for their sets, and up and coming producer Franklyn Watts beefs up the bass on “Love and Marriage.” 

Overall, this package is loaded with great versions of W&Rs “Self Help,” so do yourself a solid and help yourself.

The dirtybird Quarterly club party was the one piece that was under the control of the whole group essentially.  And so it turned out to be our one only time capsule to survive through all those years of changes.
