So I Sing

Born in Finland, J.P. Kallio spent 27 years emerging in the Dublin music scene and toured extensively around Europe with the modern Celtic folk band Sliotar. Now J.P. has found a new home in South Burgundy, France. He swapped the city for a serene country life, where he spends most of his time caring for his garden, writing and recording music. 
  J.P.'s musical roots have always been in the songs. Since a very early age, he has been fascinated by the art and craft of songwriting. Johnny Cash and Tom Waits heavily influenced him. From his early influences of rock and blues, merged with years of playing Celtic music, J.P.'s songs blend into a unique style of Indie Folk. 
  J.P. is a prolific songwriter, and between 2014 and 15, he released six solo albums. Between a busy schedule with Sliotar, and turbulence in his personal life, followed by two years of not being able to play shows due to a global pandemic, J.P. is finally back working on his solo material. In the autumn of 2022, J.P. spent some time in Paris recording what was supposed to be his next solo album. But as the unexpected opportunity to relocate from Dublin to the beautiful countryside just outside Macon, in France, came about, it slowed down the final mixes of the album. At the same time, it inspired J.P. to record some older songs that he has been playing live for years, some previously released and some never released. So not only is J.P. about to release one, but two new albums of his music. 
   J.P. has a subtle but firm presence, and his live performances tie you to the present moment. He captivates the audience with his skilful guitar, hypnotising voice and storytelling.
