In early 2015 I started this track in support of Phil Western - who was hospitalized at the time. The label Bottle Imp was assembling a benefit compilation and an earlier version of this track was included. The release compilation was never released, but it was provided to Phil (who had recovered by then). 

With his passing many years later (during the year that I moved to Vegas), I chose to reopen the track and rework it with many of the new software and techniques I had learned in the years that followed. 

I cannot begin to express the quiet influence that Phil had on my musical creativity. To discover many years later that Phil was part of the wider crew working with cEvin, Dwayne, and Mark - and that he was so relevant to Download and Plateau. To listen to Phil talk about his musical tastes and influences is like hearing someone talk about my musical background too. I am so grateful for the imprint he left on the world and that it touched me. 

This track is for Phil.

Billie Eilish - Blue [hal3 Deep Mix]

After a year of sitting on a failed remix (because SoundCloud resisted me posting it) - I reopened the remix and reworked it. For me Blue is such a beautiful track. Billie's vocals captured me and transported me to a dark, beautiful and haunting place. I believe that I was able to find a nice creative place that still highlights her vocals and the original composition, but puts all sorts of other around it. 

Additionally, as a result of discovering GLYTCH's incredible independent video, I took the liberty of editing it to extend the time and align to the remix. Find the video here: https://youtu.be/LDEuzih3wNQ

Again, this would not have been as easily possible if it had not been for Billie and Finneas releasing the digital album with isolated vocals.
