My name stage name is Raptor but also go by J.Y.C. I got into writing rhymes a few years ago as a hobby, and then later on, rap turned into my therapy and became a way for me to process my emotions and better understand myself. Everything that I've been going through emotionally and in my personal life since I started rapping at the age of 18 (I'm now 22) is reflected in my music. I wouldn't consider my self in touch with myself naturally, and i'm not very good with emotions I tend to avoid them at all costs, but rapping has become my exercise in being honest with myself, and growing as a person. I don't usually plan on what i'm gonna write about, sometimes ill have a basic idea, or direction I want to go with it, buy usually I just kinda write whatever I feeling like writing in that moment, and as I go back to revise it over the next few days usually a lot more stuff comes out, until I get to a point where I feel like I said everything I wanted to. The whole process can take anywhere from a few days to many months depending on the song, but when I finally get to the end I look back at what I wrote to help me understand whatever i'm feeling inside, and it's also a great way for my friends to get to know/understand me. My music is the one place where I find it easiest to be brutally honest with myself. 

You'll notice that my music has a completely different style than most other rap/hip-hop out there, its almost like a hybrid of rap and spoken word. I have an enormous amount of material written and memorized, but my friends and I have our favorites, maybe 30 right now that I plan on recording and sharing. The vibe/feeling is very diverse, everything from battle lyrics, to dark emotional stuff, clubby songs, and a few romantic ones. I write my music for myself and those close to me that I share it with, and have made it a point never to try to make it into anything more then that out of principal. Up until now people only heard me as a live performer but never as a recording artist, but I had so many people asking me for copies of my songs I finally got around to recording. Because it's all meant to be performed live, my songs tend to be kinda long, but I rarely use a chorus and prefer a more free flow style. I DID NOT MAKE THESE RECORDINGS FOR COMMERCIAL DISTRIBUTION, nor is it my intention to make a profit off my music, which is why I'm happy to make it freely available for download by anyone who identifies or enjoys my music. I find no greater pleasure than when others identify with and truly enjoy listening to my work. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for you for your support.
