Returning to be perceived through Exos’ pounding Planet X lens, 3Ddancers you could do anything brings 12 punchy tracks cut from live performances at Kraftwerk, Human, RSO, Mjut, Arkaoda and Funkhaus, following the 4 hour “new exciting toys” of 2022. As one has come to expect from the trio, the industrial techno-y electro IDM dances between the cool and surreal, at times reaching almost comical absurdity. Swaying from the serene to the abrasive, the sound is rough and alive - thick low end and sharp highs ever-present.

Starting with the surreal, cool it doot, Catnip and byte me pack a disorientating punch to prepare the listener for what's to come. Carnival Engine Room (Alex’s Guitar Edit) gives us some soothing atmospheric respite before we descend into the sonic violence of swarm unit, really highlighting 3Ddancers signature groovy thumping crunch. The momentum isn’t lost from there, returning briefly to the surreal with Feel Something Weird Now, only to continue punching through with roadworks, Feel Me Now, and hopscotch. you could do anything adds some rolling bassline to the mix along with some meme vocals, after which we conclude the absurdity in WHATSUPP MOTHERFUCKERS and ending in the reds with continue.

It’s been a long while since our last Tonal compilation, five years to be exact, and it’s also been a long while since label boss Leandro Gamez’s last track on the label, so we are double happy.

This mini compilation features long time label veterans, like the aforementioned Leandro Gámez, Bando, Groof and Deepnaut. All four artists are a fundamental part of techno history locally in Spain and worldwide, so they don’t need further introduction just check discogs and you’ll get the picture.

Release starts with Bando and his track Garaje Hermético, a proper complex and funk techno exercise made of rugged FM synth layers over a shuffled groove, constantly evolving and mutating a guaranteed dancefloor burner.

Next comes Groof with Strom playing with industrial flavored broken rhythms spiced with metallic FM synths and occasional bleeps. Additional percussive layered heavily reverberated complete the equation.

Deepnaut provides his personal touch on techno with Freaq FM, always blending harmonies with hypnosis in a rolling chord infused number, galactic and classic at same time.

Release closes with Leandro Gámez and Dengue, shuffled grooves, mental sequences, vocal snippets and classic chords in a timeless techno workout.

Gregor Tresher kicks off 2015 looking to break new soil with his first ever full release for John Digweed's Bedrock Records.   

Last year was as hectic as ever for the Gregor and he came into it on high from the success of his artist album Nightcolours and having closed out 2013 by releasing an astonishing Laurent Garnier remix of the title track, on his own imprint.   Time to relax a little maybe? Not a chance. January saw the remixed version of the album hit the stores and this was backed within a few weeks by 'Taurus', Gregor's enticing collaboration with Petar Dundov. The summer saw him remix the Chymera classic 'Shadowdancer' and he closed 2014 with the superb 'Midas / Disturber' double-header.   

Somewhat of a musical chameleon, Tresher is as at home creating deeper shades of house for the likes of Moon Harbour and Ovum as he is techno rhythms for Music Man, Cocoon and Drumcode.   With label boss Digweed a huge fan, Bedrock is yet another perfect fit for the German and he opens his account with the mighty, melodic and Kraken'esque 'Goliath' and the razor-sharp lightning bolt that is 'Stormblade'.

While Scalameriya's first album, Hubris (2016) on Genesa Records, was an exploration of what he considered "uncharted territory" at that time, Aeon Core (2022) on Perc Trax, on the other hand, was a process of cataloguing the various techno influences from his teenage years, seen through the lens of his modern, unmistakable style.
The next chapter of Scalameriya's turbulent saga in electronic music is Kornukopiya (2024), the manifesto of a mad scientist, a depiction Nikola resisted for years that ultimately became an embraced part of his persona as he finally takes on the lab coat of a genre-defying artist he was bound to become.
His documented, unwavering discipline has transformed into nothing less than rituals that are performed daily, securing him the grace of the muse as a result.
With Kornukopiya, Scalameriya ventures beyond the ordinary and dashes to the forefront of avant-garde club music, evading the shackles of conventional techno yet again while he effortlessly showcases his limitless hyperphantasia across 25 tracks, each as relentless and articulate as the other, making this album an auditory opulence for listeners eager to experience more than just a simple interaction between an effective kick and a random blip.
Always remaining conceptual, worshiping the idea and imagination as sacred phenomena, this time he consolidates the ever-recurring motifs of sci-fi, danger, and weight in his music with the mystical, bringing forth coherent displays of sound that, collectively as an album, emit an uncanny fusion of mechanical ferocity and ethereal enchantment.
At the moment, Kornukopiya can be considered Scalameriya's "magnum opus", but with his merciless pursuit of the apex of sound design, this statement will likely be rendered obsolete in the blink of an eye.

We here at Second State are thrilled to bring you our new concept entitled HUB. While most labels these days are doing various artists releases to showcase the overall talent on their label, we thought it would be better suited for both our listeners and ourselves to break the mold and bring you a series of true collaborations. Each HUB release will feature a single artist teaming up with others from the Second State family to create an EP of authentic musical compromises. A place where multiple minds find a harmony somewhere outside their own identity and each collaboration conceives a genuinely unique artifact. With this, there is no one we would rather have kick off the series than the man behind the massive EPs; 'Throwl' and 'Doch', Stephan Hinz with HUB One!

Stephan and Clint Stewart united to create a cosmic journey into the outer reaches of deep space with 'Shimmer'. The longest affair of the three, 'Shimmer' is the aural embodiment of hurtling through space as you look out the window into the vast never ending blackness. Yet, when you observe the star dust and cosmos against the onyx background, the colors are that much more vibrant and surreal.
