Huge thanks to Nils Frahm and his brand new Piano Day (http://http://www.pianoday.org) for inspiring me to finally setup for proper recording my piano with two microphones, RME Babyface, and Ableton... This is a very short piece that I composed on the spot, as I was too excited to see the fruits of this first recording! 

Now I can play with mic positioning, multi-layering and software effects! :)

"SONG OF THE BIRDS" is an adaptation by Catalan cellist and conductor Pablo Casals of a famous Catalonian Christmas carol. 
Casals made this piece famous as a solo cello, cello and piano, cello and orchestra and cello ensemble work. 

Trombonist Don Benham, my good friend of several decades, (trombonist with the San Francisco Ballet, Santa Fe Opera, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Oakland Symphony, Skywalker Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony) and I arranged this work and performed it several times together in concert with the permission of Pablo Casals' widow Marta Casals and Tetra Music Corporation. 

We present this video to you with the words of Maestro Casals: 
"We are leaves on a tree, and the tree is all humanity. A musician, as every man, must take part in the movement of the world."

In addition to this arrangement for guitar and trombone, I have arranged "SONG OF THE BIRDS" for solo guitar, guitar and cello, guitar and viola, and guitar and violin.
