L’âme de l’une d’elle
Qui, pourtant encor’ belle
M’appelait

Je m’agenouillai
La posai sur ma paume
Ainsi que sur un trône
Bien douillet

The summer was running out of steam
To fall in the apples
In front of this autumn wind
Which froze
Oh! these cries, these cries...

The wind was stripping
The branches of a plane tree
When the leaves fade
With regret
And these cries, these cries...

On the ground trembled
The soul of one of her
Who, yet still beautiful
Called me
Still those cries...

I knelt down
Put her in my palm
As if on a throne
Nice and cozy
Still those cries...

Her veins traced
Diaphanous lines of life
Which, without appeal, condemn
The portrait
But these cries, these cries?

Lucid, she shouted
They were cries of autumn
Cracking, which are evading
For ever
No more cries, cries...

Shemesh" is a 30-piece orchestra symphony that serves as a tribute to the great Hanan Ben Ari, incorporating a diverse range of instruments beyond the strings. Alongside Asher Laub's captivating violin performance and the full string section, the arrangement also features the expressive power of brass, winds, and percussion. These additional instrumental elements enrich the composition, adding depth, color, and dynamic contrast to the overall sound.

PROGRAM NOTES
Summit Trio (a.k.a. Trio from Triple Concerto, "Summit") consists of three of the seven movements from Triple Concerto, “Summit” that focus on the solo trio. I designed these brief movements to function as a stand-alone chamber piece that can be used as a sort of "teaser" for the concerto. In the orchestral version of these movements, the orchestra enhances the trio now and then, but in this version, the trio performs by itself without any extra assistance from the orchestra.

Triple Concerto and Summit Trio were commissioned by the Neave Trio and premiered by the trio at the Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY.

"Shine" is a particularly personal solo piano piece for me. My goal was to stop time for a moment and let tranquility set in. The minimalistic composition and the careful playing are meant to calm down, decelerate and give new energy. Let yourself fall and enjoy the reverberation of your thoughts.
