As this album was made in the Philippines, I knew I wanted to have a Tagalog song on the album, but I just wasn’t familiar with anything that I felt really reflected the love between me and Hazel. After some time, my niece, Nicole, suggested this song. I loved it, the sound, the meaning. It was the perfect Tagalog song for the album, and my cousin, Aiza, had the perfect voice for it. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

This song was written near the beginnings of the album, when some of the pain and sorrow from losing Hazel was still new. Until now, I still miss Hazel so much and I can only hold onto the memories of her. But those memories were beautiful ones that I will cherish for all of my life. Hazel loved books. She loved to read. And one day while working on the album, this idea came to me to write a song as pages in a book. The song describes four important moments in the story of our love, the first moment we met, the moment she said yes to be my girlfriend, the moment she was diagnosed with cancer, and the moment I promised to never leave her. I’ve never met someone like Hazel, someone who could be so incredibly special to me in every way. I will always go back through our love story and remember all of the wonderful memories.

My cousin, Tek, was the one who first introduced me to Hazel over a year ago. Thanks to Tek, I met the love of my life in Hazel and I really wanted Tek to be a part of the album, to tell the love story of Hazel and I through a fun skit. Hazel and I loved strolling around the malls, even if we didn’t need to buy anything. We would hold hands just talking and laughing, enjoying each other’s company while window shopping. I always would tell Hazel how happy the SM holiday jingle made me feel. It is so cheerful, just like how I feel whenever I am around Hazel.

Just two weeks after meeting Hazel, I knew I wanted to marry her. We talked every day and night, every chance we could, and we always enjoyed each other’s company. As time went on, our love for one another grew more and more, so selfless and pure. Several months later, I traveled to the Philippines to propose to Hazel, and she said yes! This moment was from February 15, 2023, the day after Valentine’s Day. The day before, Hazel and I celebrated with a simple dinner where I cooked my famous baked salmon. The next morning, we wanted to have breakfast at Cafe Princess, one of Hazel’s favorite places. We were the only ones in the restaurant that early, and after having some delicious food, we just sat there, talking and laughing together for several hours. This was one of a few moments we captured on camera for our “viewers”, haha.

This song was the start of what would truly make the album very, very special. Originally, the album was just going to be filled with beats Hazel and I worked on together. But the idea to collaborate with others started here when I asked Joman if he could play guitar on this simple beat I made. The beat was called Carefree, and I wanted Joman and his guitar to express that feeling. So I asked him to play a guitar solo throughout the entire song. No verses, no hooks, just one long guitar solo.

This song started from a desire to have a loving duet on the album. Joy and Joman are a beautiful, talented couple who I asked to sing the duet. Joy instantly thought of the perfect song, a song she once sang before in college. For Joman, no one thought he could sing so well, not even himself. But once we recorded the first demo, everyone knew their voices were a perfect match for the song.

With my cousin Inah, this was the very first song we recorded for the album. At this time, I had no idea how the album would eventually turn out. It was still full of beats and this was the first song with actual lyrics. We recorded the first demo using a cheap mic, recorded through her phone, just to see what we could do, and there was so much promise. After getting a more professional mic and recording the full song, it really opened the door to what the album could truly be.
