Pokémon Trainer Battle. First time writing a battle track with just three voices and no percussion! The middle voice goes above and under the other voices in very fast and crazy runs so I kept it despite being ‘less appropriate’. But surely I had a blast writing this track! Also, with the amazing scene drawn by El Espriteador.

I was thinking about Ecruteak City and magically the melodies unfolded quite easily. I didn’t want to write another nostalgic one but this is my go-to nowadays, especially when I also saw this amazing town scene by El Espriteador.

Clash on the Vast Plains. The style is not FFT strictly speaking but more of a mix between FFVII and FFVIII, and even Dissidia. This is part of a series of retro-inspired songs based on tactical RPGs from the PSX/SNES era such as Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre.

This one has a bit more of an Octopath Traveler vibe, but what it came to mind were the words “nocturne diplomacy”. I think I was also inspired with Mistborn: The Final Empire, where there’s a lot of conspiracies and stuff happening during the balls. For this one I wanted to explore multiple sections and treat the orchestra as a breathing, pulsing instrument. Snapshot from FFT.

Comp6 (FFT Style)

Right after holidays I started dreaming about going to Cerulean City, so this song unfolded magically. Some of the melodies are very similar to the original route song so I decided to add extra notes so the listener could 'hear' the real melody underneath. I also tried a bit of a bold double resolution at the end (E - D#º - E and F - B - E) which I quite like!
