If you haven't heard of the Vegas Shakedown...you're lost...or you're a bboy that has never been to Las Vegas. This is a little something to get everyone ready for out 9th installment of the Vegas Shakedown bboy jam.

10 years ago as I was still in my early stages of DJing, I wanted to practice and record a mix with some records that were leftover from doing Never Forgive Action 5 with DJ Basic. I never meant for it to be an official mix by any means (all vinyl, plus I was terrible lol).

Not entirely sure why I started trying to do the mixes every year, but eventually people started asking me about them in anticipation of the next Thanksgiving, so I kept at it -- and 10 years and 10 mixes later here we are (I sadly, lost one of the mixes during the MySpace era).

My approach to DJing has always been to carry on the tradition of digging for records as a priority. As the years have gone by, that art as a whole seems to have been pushed further and further to the side. Even though, I've dabbled in making beats and play produced joints, these mixes have always been my attempt to keep the balance out there (though one year was a Hip-Hop mix).

But as always, 100% real records. Much love to everyone who has been peepin out these mixes for the last decade! (man, that's really crazy to say).

I said earlier this may be the last one, but who knows how I'll feel next year, maybe I'll go for 20.

Before my next mix of newer material I wanted to make the first in a series of Classics mixes. These are the breaks that I remember being played all the time in the early 2000's. Some of them are straight up bboy anthems. Leacy, Dadeo, Geometrix and local radio DJ's had a big impact on what I play in this mix. To me, these sounds were everywhere and I wanted to bring that vibe back for the newer generation who might not know these breaks as well. Thank you to everyone who's supported me and believed in me. When it comes to being a pure-bred DJ, there are few who match J-Smoke’s accomplishments behind the turntables. Respected as one of the most skilled all-around DJs in the global DJ community, this New York native brings the best of many worlds to the turntables as a seasoned veteran in the international DJ battle circuit. As a collective, the Allies hold over 14 World Championship titles-- more than any other DJ crew in the world. With such an extensive resume, the Allies have broken the tradition of the DJ playing the background and have now stepped in to the spotlight appearing on various television networks such as CNN, MTV, BET, FOX, NBC, and almost all of the major and local magazines and newspapers. The Allies are also working hard to change the standard of being a turntablist.
