Straight outta the fiord lands of southern Norway comes the new EP from Hydrous. We’ve come to a point where we no longer need to introduce the sound universe of Per Christian Berg to our ever-growing Navigare tribe, as he’s become a foundation for what we are and what we want to express. “Deep Techno”, “Psychedelia”, “Neo Trance” – call it whatever you like, what matters is that our brand of electronic dance music can assist your spirit to fly.

Simple, yet rich in detail; uniform, yet explorative; uplifting, yet with an unmistakable Nordic melancholia – Hydrous music continues to hypnotize and fascinate us at the Navigare HQ, and we’re happy to continuously receive the praise he deserves from around the globe from his past collaborations with us.

For this release you’ll notice a subtle gain in intensity in all three tracks. Although being far from peak time monsters, the aim here is undoubtedly to entrance a focused dancefloor, preferably while the sun is rising. Whether it’s the Eden-like atmosphere of “Cascade”, the introverted broken beats of “Infinite” or the meaty trance of “Pathos” that will guide the crowd through the morning session is only a matter of circumstances and taste.

Remix work is by none other than Buenos Aires based Forest On Stasys. Owner of the celebrated label Danza Nativa and a highly accomplished producer, stretching from tribal Ambient to dirty, mind-melting peak-time Techno, we knew we’d be in for a treat for this collaboration. Staying true to a Hydrous sound universe, while adding gentle tribal percussion and some über-psychedelic alien bleeps á la Eat Static, this track will blow minds on a starlit night out in the wild.

Anthony Linell – The Levels of Existential Space

For its seventh release, Obscura - the thriving label of Italian trio Agents Of Time - returns to the compilation format to welcome exciting new talents and core label acts. 

‘East Coast’, the Agents Of Time track which opens the release, is at once tough and atmospheric, with delicate pads suspended above the rugged, syncopated rhythm. London Modular Alliance complete the A-side with an organic jam of bleeps, bass and crisp percussion. Next, Australian Jensen Interceptor contributes a fresh cut of rapid-fire electro which leads neatly into the sci-fi tones of ‘Welcome To My World’ by newcomer Golden Virgo. 

Following a full EP on Obscura earlier this year, Hiver is back with the elastic bassline and dreamy arpeggios of ‘Stasys’. Orbe, a remixer on Hiver’s EP, impresses with ‘Never Comes’, a similarly restrained and endlessly detailed journey through the depths. 

The final side is split between Laguna and Kris Wadsworth. The former tunnels further into the hypnotic side of Obscura’s sound whilst Wadsworth’s crunchy, Detroit techno ends the release on a high. With ‘From Sound To Silence 2’, Agents Of Time have compiled eight, stand-out tracks to explore the full range of their dancefloor sensibilities.

Following amazing releases on Last Known Trajectory and New Flesh, Jauzas The Shining returns to us here at Shipwrec with a work of sheer quality. Known primarily as a purveyor of electro, the Frenchman has poked and prodded the expected parameters of the sound for ”Digital Sensation.” Delicate sweeps are shouldered by walls of distortion and a cutting snare in “Digital Sensation.” Eerie and unsettling in one breath, absorbingly close in the next, the opener melts emotive notes with rasping rhythms to produce a daring piece of audio futurism. A slender beat introduces “Intellectual Capacity.” From this shallow foundation grows a track of parred down complexity. Bold keys stab through garbled samples and hi-hats as a distant groove unfurls in the most unexpected way. “Sentinel” is a different beast. Cinematic in its composition, broad bars sail above piercing percussion for a work that balances light and dark tones perfectly. The curtain fall comes in the shape of “The Vision of the Trance.” Beats echo and judder against a bulwark of static for this arcing finale, the decaying bleep of circling satellites orbiting a machine inhabited world below.

Kuba Sojka - Espiral

Versatility is a quality that is embodied in the style of Vincenzo Pizzi, an Italian producer who works in a musical context based on the harshness and rawness of techno, but always starting from this genre as a basis for all his subsequent development, as an influence that expands with breaks, advanced electronica and electronic sounds.

Vincenzo is the head of Pyteca, a label he founded in 2016 and which houses his latest album. Archivio is a 9-track release that stands out for its diversity, as it combines fast and broken rhythms with the rhythmic immutability of techno. Each track is a completely different story from the rest, the album does not have to follow a stipulated or agreed upon line, with patterns that can give indications of what the listener is going to hear, but rather it is a multiple connection, united by forcefulness.
