The song "Spring Breeze (望春風)" is a Taiwanese folk tune originally composed by Teng Yu-hsien, a Hakka Taiwanese composer. "Spring Breeze" has been sung by many famous Japanese and Taiwanese singers. My arrangement of the piece is based on the violin-piano arrangement made by Tyzen Hsiao. For this particular arrangement, I had changed a few chords so that there is a gentle jazz-like dissonance before resolving traditionally. The coda features a floating melody supported by a lovely four part harmony written by Tyzen Hsiao. In my mind, it is almost as if he wrote it for a string quintet at the end.

At night waiting alone under a dim lamp, with the spring breeze blowing on my cheeks,
I, an unmarried maiden of seventeen going on eighteen, see a young man.

Wanting to ask him yet fearing embarrassment, my heart flutters as if it were a pipa being strummed.

Wishing him to be the groom of mine, with love inside my heart.

Mirrors (Justin Timberlake K-O.ver) - Live by Kevin "K-O." Olusola

This piece, composed by the amazing Jeremy Zuckerman, is famously played during the episode "The Tales of Ba Sing Se" from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I made this arrangement of this simple tune with a markedly different vision. While the original is full of regret and sorrow, I wanted my arrangement to be lush and beautiful, at peace with itself as a tribute to the late Mako Iwamatsu, who voiced Uncle Iroh for the first two season of A:TLA. However, I did want to capture a hint of regret and sorrow at the end with the coda.
