There's an edge and rawness in this delivery that I'm really enjoying in this one, James. Such vivid imagery in the lyrics - like I can see and feel what's happening in each scene.

when those 7th chords (I believe they are perhaps?) come in, it's really neat how it alters the texture/feel of the song, and that descending chromatic chord is awesome btw (after "heaven and hell" for example). Really well done song JTR, hope you promote this one to publishers/radio, to my ears it combines well-done elements of Tom Waits with the Beatles (a cool mix) in terms of the progressions and even lyrical content (i.e. Waits in Closing Time's album lyrics)

That chord progression along with the way the guitar sounds is A1.

Really powerful chorus, especially the second time around when your voice puts some extra grit into it on the word 'hard'. This feels like a classic!
