I had this cool idea for a guitar + Subharmonicon texture, but the Subh’s oscillator tuning doesn’t work how I thought it does so… I did this instead. Subharmonicon with a little knob twiddling.

Short improv between Fathers Day activities. I found my old Korg Kaoss Pad, which works but is noisy as all hell. I ran the Moog Subharmonicon through it, and did some further processing using Drambo and the Gauss field looper.

Playing a simple patch I made on the MakeNoise 0-Coast, processed through a few effects in Drambo. Kind of lost the plot at the end there, but that’s the nature of improv sometimes.

Child's Play is a series of short pieces I made reflecting on my son's first six months of life.

This piece takes inspiration from two places:

First, one of a newborn's first development milestones is rolling over. It's an impressive thing to watch; they go from uncoordinated flailing, and then all of a sudden a rhythm kicks in and they just... do it. The structure of the piece attempts to follow a similar path, starting with a few independent sound elements that gradually all come under the control of a dominant rhythm.

Second, one of my son's favorite toys in his first months was a wooden box filled with small wooden balls, attached to two arms. The baby rolls the box on the arms, and the wooden balls make a pleasant percussive noise from inside of it. I used this toy as the primary sound source for the piece. 

Roll was recorded entirely on an iPad in MiRack, using a modular setup meant to mimic the Make Noise Tape Music and Microsound system.
