One of the more musical outing from 170's new shining lights was always destined to be on Headz, the intro is as forlorn as it beautiful. Skeptical’s drums are bring light to the heartbreak with Dub Phizix bass driving things forward, this one will be remembered for some time to come.

After a six month break the mix-tape series, Dexta returns with instalment number 7. Approx 30 minutes of non stop fresh music.
 
" So, I decided that Dexta's Lab 06 was going to be the last one for a while, and after half a year, I've decided to bring yet another 6 episodes, for 2014, this time I'm turning up the heat, and will be recording the mix-tapes monthly.

I've been mad busy behind the scenes with the label, and I've been spending a lot of time working on music for a whole host of projects, so expect to start seeing them popping up. Since the last mix I done, I've also played a load of really cool events, and have both found and acquired some really great music, here's a selection of tunes that I am currently implementing into my sets, along with some less dancefloor orientated jams that I thought it'd be rude not to air.

As with last years series, there's no track-list, just enjoy the music!

Translation Recordings explores the subterranean side of the 170 BPM spectrum with “Bassment Beats Vol. 1” featuring tracks from an Dayni & Kenobi (Switzerland), Voyage (UK), DBR (UK) & Mtwn (Belgium), and Giocator (Hungary). Each track delves deeper into an experimental chamber of exploratory breakbeat structures, dark cinematic atmospherics, and floor-shattering bass weight. 

Up first, “Junkanoo” kicks things off on a futuristic dub-style vibe that gets heavier with the mechanized amen rhythm of “The Cell.” “Hoodz Up” is an absolute thumper of a track, whose swing-step will have you bobbing your head wherever you’re listening from. “Fate of the Unfaithful” rounds out the EP with the rising action of aggressive, neck-snapping drums that let you know you’ve reached the final level of the dungeon… Or have you?

Voyage - The Cell

Fourth installment coming from Rotterdam's longstanding bass parties and recent label 'Blendits' this time taking a deeper, darker approach.

We kick off with Belgium brothers Mtwn. With releases on Proximity, Citrus and Diffrent Music they're known for laying down abstract beats with plenty of bassweight. 'Darkened' takes us on a journey into the realms of tight, industrial sound design. Some overall techy goodness going on here.

Next up is Marseille based Joakuim with 'Perc Sequences'. Carving out a dubby vibe he presents us a slice of tribal infused halftime drum & bass that will most likely activate your primal instinct to dance, dance again and then dance a bit more. Out on the 21st of July, don't sleep on it!

Supported by the likes of Blumarten, Technimatic, and none other than LTJ Bukem, Rotation Deep has grown from a promising acorn into a flourishing musical tree. The fruits born from this tree typically have one thing in common: they are deep, luscious slices of proper, soulful drum and bass music, while recently their roots have grown wider and stronger to encompass releases from stellar artists such as Paul SG, Nitri and Duoscience. Furthermore, their recent Definitions of the Deep III LP is hands down the best collection of aquatic drum and bass you’ll hear this side of the Pacific Ocean.Their forthcoming release introduces a new starlet Kinetic One into the mix with a beautiful new track called ‘All I Have’.
 This is a slightly yearning affair, defined by mournful chords and pads which build slowly throughout the track and a loss filled sorrowful vocal that propels a real feeling of sentiment into the back of your mind. Then in the background, perfectly programmed to float just at the horizon of your hearing is a shimmering, beautifully oscillating string which rises to the fore and back again like gentle waves on a beach.The bass sort of simmers, it doesn't pulse or generally destroy stuff on its way out of the speakers; it just hums softly, adding superbly to the general atmosphere this tune creates. On the other side, Intersoul is on remix duties to transform the original into a nice amen roller,pitching it up slightly Intersoul plays with the fine base ingredients entrusted to him by Kinetic One, bringing the keys to the fore and adding his own interpretation of a deeper, tunneling and more iridescent  bassline to the mix. It’s really nicely done, and you can expect to be hearing this one on dance floors all around the world.
In short, get this one picked up. On one side you've got a stunningly deep soulful piece which you’ll find yourself listening to along over and over again, while on the other you've got something to take with you to the clubs to get any dance floor into a hypnotic jellyfish style pulsating mass. Top stuff.
