‘Entanglement’, the debut album by Michael Price fulfils his long-term desire to explore new musical territories, featuring Michael on the piano, with the addition of cello, soprano voice, string orchestra, modular synth, tape effects and electronics.

Throughout the record you will hear street sounds from 'Budapest' captured and processed on Michael’s mobile phone, as well as chamber music recorded direct to tape with vintage microphones in single takes. Album track ‘The Attachment’ was partly recorded onto a 1940s magnetic disc recorder, which immediately connected the piece back to a pre-digital musical age.

The cello and soprano vocal parts throughout the album were written specifically and directly for cellist Peter Gregson and vocalist Ashley Knight, whose expressive voice features on tracks ‘Maitri‘ and ‘The Uncertainly Principle‘. The lyrics for both songs are Japanese poetry sung in English, dealing with age, loss and the inevitable fading of beauty.

‘Entanglement’ was written over a period of two years on paper and by hand with Michael exploring oldest and newest technology at Abbey Road Studios and Snap Studios in London, before most of the recording and mixing took place at Vox-Ton in Berlin.

“I wanted to make an album that sounded like a dark, Berlin record store discovery from the 30s. Something that had timeless emotive power, and pre-digital rawness. Something that I hope would make a deeper connection in superficially networked times. I think there is a duty for artists to be honest, and vulnerable. Because then there is a possibility of real connection. Entanglement is both honest and vulnerable and to go through the two year process of writing, refining and recording an album has been more intense and more beautiful than I could have possibly imagined.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK: Resembling the inter-connecting parts, the cover art for ‘Entanglement’ was created by South London artist Supermundane, with the packaging’s layout done by long-term Erased Tapes-collaborator Torsten Posselt at FELD in Berlin.

"For my cover version I chose this track by Yeasayer. The original is a  beautifully sad yet upbeat breakup song, strident and bright with synth lines cascading around a heartfelt vocal. I wanted to make it sound far more broken and fragile, so I re-played it on the piano, pitched it down, then mangled it quite heavily so it came out sort of wobbly and knackered sounding. I wanted to leave it quite bare, just letting that amazing melody lead the way." - Jon Hopkins

Meeting By Chance AKA Skalpel’s Marcin Cichy debuts on Apollo with a gorgeous EP of soulful atmospheric electronica, suffused with aching negative space, softly ticking rhythms and dulcet piano.

Classically trained on piano since his youth and one of the youngest Polish National TV music composers ever, Marcin quickly developed a taste for electronic music, composing soundtracks for some of Poland’s influential and pioneering video artists throughout the 80s and 90s.

But it was when he founded the acclaimed jazz duo Skalpel with Igor Pudło in 1998 that things really got going.  Over the course of their three albums and many EPs to date Scalpel have won huge acclaim, signing to Ninja Tune, and, winning Poland’s most prestigious cultural award Paszport POLITYKI as well as performing with Mira Calix, Clark, Kronos Quartet and AUKSO Orchestra among many others.

Following a serious skateboarding accident, Marcin backbone was broken in two places which meant a year spent between a bed and on a wheelchair. This period saw the beginning of his solo career as Meeting by Chance (the name inspired by a series of pictures by Duane Michals showing the reaction of two men crossing in an alley). 

In contrast to Skalpel’s more jazz infused upbeat vibe MBC finds Marcin exploring the combination of delicate textural sound design with enveloping billowy pads and ethereal piano chords. Cichy displays an introspective lightness of touch that is quite rare in today’s bombastic modern electronica which is most welcome and perfectly fits in with Apollo Records.

Estamos Felices edita de manera digital una retrospectiva  de las obras compuestas por Nicolás Melmann entre el 2006 y el 2012. “Culto al pasado” es un álbum que recopila algunas de sus obras previamente inéditas que incluyen piezas musicales para teatro y películas.

Nicolás Melmann, músico de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, con diferentes facetas, desde la electrónica / electroacústica, pasando por la música infantil, componiendo para televisión, cine, teatro e instalaciones, hasta su más reciente incursión como cantautor, siempre innovando desde lo compositivo, poniendo a prueba formatos, explorando diferentes sonoridades, recursos e instrumentos.

Desde el año 2006 viene desarrollando un proyecto audiovisual, combinando sonido con Imágenes, trabajando con VJS, generando un mix entre música, imagen y texto buscando una unidad conceptual y discursiva entre estos.

Su debut en el escenario fue como semifinalista en el concurso Conexión 06, organizado por la Alianza Francesa y la revista Los Inrockuptibles. en mayo del 2006, ese mismo año fue también nominado como artista revelación en el concurso de SUPER45 /Chile www.super45.cl

Desde entonces viene presentándose en el país y en el exterior, en diferentes escenarios de la escena porteña, y en Festivales como PICTOPLASMA ( festival internacional de animación) PANORAMICA ( Fundación telefónica), TRIMARCH entre otros.
Con visitas a Chile ( Santiago y Valparaíso - años 2007 y 2009) y una serie de recitales por Europa en el año 2008, tocando en Viena ( Austria) - Berlín y Hamburgo ( Alemania) - Paris y Burdeos ( Francia)- Londres ( Reino Unido) - Barcelona y Madrid ( España) incluyendo el Festival de renombre C-O POP en Colonia ( Alemania) junto a artistas de primer nivel.

Con dos discos como solita Kyoko – 2005 / Siete Vidas para Otomi (música para teatro) 2006- , un tercero en camino, participado de varias compilaciones para Fuga Discos y Mun Discos , Si no puedes Bailar ( Brasil ) y colaborado con artistas como FARMACIA , KIRLIAN, EASTERN COMMITÉ (Francia), proyecto TODO UNO, taller musical con personas de capacidad diferentes , LINCE Berlín entre otros.
