Summer You Were Mine v2.0

BACKGROUND  : The band was originally formed in 2009 when Pinoy front man Juan Curtis, Filipina Bassist Ceej Gomera and Canadian guitarist Junior Devacais, decided to get together for some jamming after having heard each other play at a KATHA-sponsored Songwriter’s Night.   Juan Curtis (JC) is also the frontman of “Buding” and musical influences include Dong Abay, Lenny Kravitz, and Tom Petty.  Ceej Gomera is a Performance Artists, UP Physics Major, Model is also the daughter of the late Jazz Guitarist Titing Gomera.  Juni Devecais is also a guitarist/producer for Miguel Escueta and Mr. Bones and the Graveyard Circus 
  
 SOUND CONTROL : Juan  Curtis’ music is pop rock, very Filipino, full of drama.
The carrier track “The Summer You Were Mine,” recounts the power of old songs to take you back to another place, another love, another time--   showcases the bands penchant for crafty, melodic songs.  The most radio friendly track on the album “Marshmallow & Wine” tells of barely legal romance against a backdrop of prominent bass line, hammered riff, ambient drone, and JC affecting 90’s Brit Bands in his vocal delivery.

Tracks includes two tagalog radio ready songs such as “Paglaruan”  and “Victoria’s Secret” JC’s account of the Neil Jordan movie “Crying Game” about a guy who unwittingly falls in love with a transsexual and stays in love.   

“Alive” and “I See You”, a song based on a real life one-night stand is a sonic assault of crunchy guitars, ingenious lyrics, heavy bass, and thudding drums all wrapped in clever melodies and JC’s earnest vocals. 

The band in their songwriting try to combine the experimentation of post-punk and new wave with a more melodic pop style and an underground sensibility. Some of the songs shares aesthetics with 80’s rock bands Sugar and 90s band Tonic.   Juan Curtis emphasizes melody in its songs and does not disavow classic rock, as "we don’t particularly care about tearing down the old to make room for the new".
