For our first anniversary we have decided to put together a compilation of artists, local and abroad, to give back to those who are in desperate need of any help we can give. We feel deeply for all those who are suffering in Palestine, and we feel it is our duty to try to aid them in these desperate times in any way we can.

So we have decided to donate all proceeds of this compilation to The Palestine Children's Relief Fund. We Would really appreciate it if you would join us in doing any thing you can, by either sharing this release, purchasing it, or donating to the organisation to help those in need.

Its been a while since I have released a new edition to my beloved Colourful Darkness series. This is the first new edition in the last couple years. 

Reason being was that I had struggled with some mental health issues, and grew apart from this part of myself. 

In the process of healing and growing I tended to move away from this part of myself and to try and push different things to reconnect with the passion that I felt I had lost.

The problem was that in doing so I started pushing myself more away from what I loved, and what I have always wanted to represent musically. So I thought I would go back to my roots, and do something true to the person that was so passionate and starry eyed when I started this musical journey. In doing so I feel closer to myself than I have in a long time, and I hope by listening to this you can feel that. 

Its a textbook Colourful Darkness mix, where the focus is on feeling, exploration, and storytelling. This is a new piece of me and I hope you enjoy it.

Colourful Darkness [Vol 016]

South Africa's DJ Lag is to gqom what Frankie Knuckles is to house. An early pioneer of the raw, minimal and bass-heavy electronic style since the 2010s, he has gone on to popularise it around the world with a wealth of solo EPs and high-profile collabs. Last year, he dropped his second album, The Rebellion, which ushered in a new era that embraced Afro tech, amapiano, drill and hip-hop, all having previously worked with the likes of Beyoncé and Tyla.

He played Dekmantel Festival back in 2022 and now makes an overdue entry into our mix series with a widescreen showcase of his musical world, including some unreleased tracks from himself. It's Afro-centric but roams from silky smooth and deep jams to crisp metallic steppers via warped dub, always with an empowering energy that makes you puff your chest and put your best foot forward.

Here is the recording of my recent show at Operator Radio in Rotterdam. 

Had a lot of fun playing with different textures, and getting out of tricky places during the mix. 

Lots of tension, momentum and direction.
