n artist with a diverse and storied relationship with the dance music scene, GMJ & Matter are proud to see Kasper Koman make his label debut with the twin-track “Sinking Sky / Biome”.

A veteran of more than a century of production credits dating back to a 2008 debut, Kasper Koman has seen his work signed to myriad high-profile labels including the likes of Plattenbank, Anjunadeep and Guy J’s Lost & Found. From central Netherlands, Kasper has combined trademark emotion with a powerful and evocative sound that has seen his music supported by such leading tastemakers as Guy Mantzur, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J himself.

Now debuting on Meanwhile, the “Sinking Sky” opener is characterised by a driving beat and metronomic hi-hat pattern. A running 16th note bassline pattern enters the fray in the second movement with a fizzing vibrancy provided by resonating and filtered effects. A cast of additional characters add to the overall sonic landscape including a beautifully juxtaposed pad progression. A spine-tingling breakdown provides acetylene-edged emotion via the extended bassline motif, before hitting its stride once more in the latter stages to wondrous effect and no small amount of production talent.

“Biome” continues the narrative of raw effects-laden power, while a strong kick lays the foundation for a piercing percussive groove, adding swing to the off-beat. A well-crafted sonic palette supplies a soft chord progression of Kraftwerk-inspired imagination as a meandering array of well-placed effects, white-noise washes and rasping bass notes create a mosaic of sounds. The result is a hypnotic, angular offering that keeps listener interest piqued without a central melody seeing the 6-minute piece fly past in an instant.

A welcome return to the world of progressive house sees Kasper Koman enchant and enthral with “Sinking Sky / Biome”.

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Halishan, Bayca and Alex - T to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Sri Lanka respectively, this trio of artists have all achieved measurable success in their solo careers. With a combined discography that includes releases via Bonzai, Innerselves, Symmetric, Timeless Moment and more, the trio has more than made their mark with a sound that often finds the creative space between progressive house and melodic house and techno. Now, combining their extensive forces for Dopamine White, Halishan, Bayca and Alex - T debut on the label with ‘Back to Civilization'.

The EP's first selection ‘Sound of Echoes' is provided by Halishan & Alex - T. Having worked on previous projects for Cafe De Anatolia, Elastic Dimension and Symmetric, the duo's creative synergy continues to grow on their Dopamine debut. Complete with many of the duo's beloved production hallmarks, it's a stripped down chunky groove which sets the pace for hopeful vocal pads, vibrant tones and uniquely polished percussion to create a timeless storyboard leading into the break. Melting down to the vocal pads and wispy effects creates an air of anticipation across the interlude, before a pitch-bending arp emerges for grooved out finale.

The EP's second and final selection finds Halishan and Bayca collaborating on ‘Mesopotamia'. With a tough percussive framework the duo's craftsmanship reveals itself across the expansive journey, one where punchy kick drums and low-slung bass lines get peppered with skittering rhythms and carefully placed atmospheric refrains. Both intimate and wide-ranging, it's a meditative break which engulfs your attention whole, creating a ceremonial backdrop for misty glitches and cross-cultural overtones to paint a scenic storyboard onwards to a rejuvenating finale.
